Quick info
About The Bruce
Sizzling skillet dishes anchor the menu at The Bruce, a bar and grill in Larbert on Glenbervie Business Park, with the sizzling chicken curry among them. Fish and chips also appear on the large menu. Orders go through a web app rather than a waiter. The large bar area sits to the left of the entrance, with a pool table, a sports TV and a darts corner, and draft beers are poured there. The main dining area lies to the right, with a kids' corner at the top right. A hotel stands next door, and its guests come in for dinner.

Customer Review Summary
Service is the recurring complaint. Reviewers describe a very slow evening when the venue was short staffed, and several report drinks that never arrived, so they went to the bar to fetch them. Kitchen errors come up too: a gammon steak without its egg, a steak served medium instead of rare, mismatched sundaes, and a burger with fatty bacon that was burnt. One diner found several menu items unavailable, and another felt the server was sarcastic after pouring a pint of cola instead of the half pint requested, then offered no refund for the difference.

“Food was very good. Service a wee bit slow and steak was asked to be done rare but it was medium. Tasty though”

“Made a reservation but there was plenty of tables, been a Sunday evening. Service was very quick & efficient. Food was excellent & great value, we had 1 surf & turf & 1 sizzling chicken curry.”

“I went to order at the bar and told the server Nathan S that I had the app. I ordered our food and I asked for a half pint of draft cola, a ginger beer and I asked for a dry white wine. I had a free wine voucher but he didn’t even bother asking what size or type of wine I wanted. He also poured a pint of draft cola instead of the half pint I asked for. When I pointed out that it was a half pint I had asked for he said sarcastically “you asked for a pint” . I said I wouldn’t ask for a pint of cola for a nine year old but he then reluctantly poured half of it into a smaller glass . He already given me the bill but didn’t even offer to refund the price difference between the pint of draft cola and the half pint I received. Very disappointed in the server’s attitude.”

“Only popped in for a pint. Staff really attentive and had a wee laugh with the locals. A bit dark and depressing inside. Main doors not very welcoming looking (needs a thorough paint job). Nice selection of beers and not too bad price wise”

“Food OK, forgot the egg with my gammon steak, slow with desserts, we ordered 2 the same, got different sundae, sorted it out ourselves as easier. Nobody seemed to want to be there. Already not impressed as told on Friday night kitchen had closed at 7.30, so we had to go out for food, after a long drive ordered drinks from table Saturday which did not arrive. 20 mins later went to empty bar to fetch them ourselves. Gave up went back to our hotel room and opened a bottle.”
