About The Round

The Round is a hamburger restaurant and cocktail bar at 21 Main St in Keswick town square. Its burgers take Lake District themes, including the Teriyaki Tarn and the Pillar of the Earth, which pairs halloumi with mushrooms. Fries and crinkle chips come alongside, and mac and cheese is served to share. The cocktail list includes a mini cocktail sharing board, and Northern Monk Eternal is on draught. Vegan, vegetarian and coeliac options are available, and dietary requirements are handled with care. The restaurant takes no bookings. Guests queue outside, the queue moves quickly, and parties are often shown to the bar for drinks while their table is prepared. Counter seating is also offered, with the bar team serving there.

Customer Review Summary

Burgers are the main draw at this Keswick spot, with reviewers naming the Teriyaki Tarn, the Pillar of the Earth with halloumi and mushrooms, and a fried chicken katsu curry burger, alongside a vegan burger and a beef burger described as fresh and tasty. Close behind are the cocktails, including a mini sharing board, and a Northern Monk pint. Fries, crinkle chips and a shareable mac and cheese get praise, as does the chocolate brownie. Several reviewers say dietary needs, including vegan and coeliac, are handled very well. Staff are called friendly, and one solo diner was offered a choice between a table and counter seating. The recurring complaint is the queue, since tables can't be booked. Reviewers describe waits from under ten minutes to around twenty-five for a large group, with most saying it moves quickly. One reviewer finds prices high for what it is, while others call them reasonable. Groups are often invited to the bar for drinks while their table is prepared.

“Excellent options for all our group that included omnis, veggies, vegans and a coeliac. Great to see that dietary requirements are taken seriously and done incredibly well. The Teriyaki Tarn burger was so flavourful and the patty was a delicious consistency. The chocolate brownie was scrumptious. Service was good, friendly, knowledgeable and just the right amount of attention. Bonus for the venue being super dog friendly.”

“Fabulous food, fabulous service and great for solo diners! Went here on an incredibly busy night in June, waited outside in the queue for maybe fifteen minutes I would guess. The staff were so friendly and even though they were rammed and I was on my own I was offered a choice of a table or counter seating instead of just being sat at the counter to free up the extra seat at the table. I chose the counter because the queue outside was huge and the team working the bar were all really lovely and stopped to chat when they were serving. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.”

“Great food and great cocktails. Lots of options and very good with dietary asks. Less than 10 mins wait for a table for 6, all staff friendly and very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to go back!”
