Customer Review Summary

Naan draws the most praise, from a chilli cheese garlic naan made off menu to a fresh, not frozen, version reviewers prefer to thick tandoori roti, though one found the peshwari naan too heavy on coconut. Close behind are the curries and chicken biryani, described as flavourful and fragrant, with daal tadka, paneer, king prawns, saag paneer and the keema chicken house special also singled out. Tandoori items and the dal were called average, and one reviewer found the curries oily, with visible separated oil, and the aloo puri chaat served unlike the chaat expected. Service divides opinion. Several describe friendly, quick, well paced staff, while others report rudeness, including being left without acknowledgment on arrival and a party turned away from dining in just before closing despite a phone agreement. Their takeaway went cold on a long drive, though a waiter did offer disposable plates and cutlery for eating outside. Another diner noted the chef made a biryani spicier on request.

“Feels like 100% place has been review bombed. Maybe competition. Tawa murgh had little sweetness but tastes good. Chicken biryani is not dum but tastes good and chef was able to make Biryani spicier👌 lucky to have this place in a remote location like Skye🔥”

“I visited Taste of India Kyleakin and placed a telephone order at around 10:00 p.m. While ordering, I explained that we would arrive in approximately 35–40 minutes and asked if we could dine in for about 10 minutes before closing at 11:00 p.m. The staff agreed and accepted the order without any issue. All pictures can be seen as a proof Watch picture is after having a discussion and leaving in car We arrived at around 10:44 p.m. However, when we went inside, one of the waiters told us we were not allowed to eat in the restaurant and that we had to take the food away because they were closing. I politely explained that we only needed 5–10 minutes to eat and would leave before 11:00 p.m., but he refused. To be fair, the same waiter was kind enough to offer us disposable plates and cutlery so that we could eat outside if we wished, which I appreciated. However, I still felt it would have been more courteous and hospitable to allow us to sit inside for just a few minutes, especially since there was clearly still time before closing. What made the situation even more disappointing was that there were still three or four tables occupied by customers who were eating their meals, and two members of the restaurant staff were also eating at another table. I pointed this out and explained that we would be finished in just a few minutes, but they still refused to let us sit down. The staff member who processed my payment, along with the two staff members sitting at the other table, appeared to be from Bangladesh, although I cannot confirm this. All three came across as rude during the interaction. The two staff members at the table were gesturing to the others and appeared to be encouraging them not to allow us to sit inside. They also told me that because we were taking the food away, it would be charged at the takeaway price rather than the dine-in price. For example, the chicken biryani was £11.90 as a takeaway compared with £15.90 for dining in. I explained that I was perfectly happy to pay the higher dine-in price if it meant we could eat inside for a few minutes before closing, but they still refused. As a result, we had to take our food away and drive for nearly two hours before we could eat it, by which time it had become cold. Regarding the food itself, the saag paneer was very good, the biryani was excellent, the fries were also very good, and the dal was average. Overall, the food quality was very good, especially considering the location. Unfortunately, the customer service left a negative impression. We had been given permission over the phone to dine in briefly, other customers were still eating inside, and I was even willing to pay the full dine-in price despite staying for only a few minutes. Businesses in the hospitality industry should, where reasonably possible, treat customers with courtesy, kindness, and flexibility. In this case, I felt those values were lacking, which overshadowed what was otherwise a very enjoyable meal. I will not be visiting next time.”

“The restaurant was truly excellent, serving delicious Indian food with authentic and amazing flavors. We would especially like to thank Waheed for his outstanding service. He was very helpful, explained the local area clearly, and was incredibly friendly and cooperative throughout our visit. We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend this restaurant.🌹🤍”

“We were quite apprehensive especially because of the bad reviews regarding how rude the owners/staff were. Some reviews stated that was the case esp towards Indians, which we are. To the contrary, we received warm and friendly service from the entire staff all through. So, perhaps be nice and you shall get the same warm service in return. The ambience is nice and everything's seemed hygienic as well. With regards to food, I would rate it as 4 as some of the dishes ( curries) were great and some of the tandoori items were average. Overall, still great taste considering all dishes we had put together. Will recommend!”

“Hi, this is JM. I’m a film director and influencer, and I recently visited your restaurant. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience. Your staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. Despite being there, I was made to wait for around 14 minutes without any proper acknowledgment or assistance. The way I was treated was unacceptable and left a very poor impression. As someone who regularly shares my experiences with my audience, I believe customer service is just as important as the food. Unless this matter is addressed appropriately, I will be sharing my honest experience across my social media platforms and leaving a review reflecting the poor behavior and lack of professionalism I encountered. I hope you take this feedback seriously and improve your customer service so other guests do not have a similar experience.”
