Fennel Restaurant is a modern European restaurant on Burn Ln in Inverurie, spread across two floors with a glass frontage and dark green walls. The kitchen cooks modern Scottish and European dishes, and a cocktail list runs alongside the food. Customer Review Summary
Sticky toffee pudding is the dish reviewers name most, singled out as a standout on the Christmas menu and ordered alongside the steak deal and a carrot cake sundae. Close behind are the Sunday roast, which several call delicious with every accompaniment tasty, and lunch plates such as pan fried sea bass with a lemon sauce, fish goujons and chips, and a strawberry panacotta. One vegetarian found the aubergine and cous cous impressive, and one praised the gluten free options. Staff come up repeatedly as friendly and welcoming, including a waiter who was chatty and interested in the conversation. The main caveats are specific. One diner left the roast beef uneaten as too chewy and found oil in the Yorkshire pudding, though the chicken was fine, and another found the room overpoweringly noisy at Christmas. One mentions walking in without a reservation, and another phoned last minute and got a table. A kitchen happy to add mushrooms to a steak is the detail one diner closes on.

“The Fennel is well known as good place to eat and tonight did not disappoint. Snuck in on a last minute phone call and really enjoyed the steak deal. The aubergine and cous cous impressed the vegetarian as well! Sticky toffee pudding and carrot cake sundae to follow. Wonderful. Friendly, helpful service, happy to do some mushrooms with the steak. A very enjoyable evening.”

“We had a lovely time enjoying the 3-course Christmas menu for just £33 – such great value! The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and the service was friendly and efficient throughout. The sticky toffee pudding was the standout highlight. Would definitely recommend and would love to come back again.”

“Absolutely lovely Pre Panto meal and service was fantastic from start to finish. Found it to be a wee bit over poweringly noisy within the restaurant but that was to be expected I guess at this time of year. All in all thoroughly enjoyed. Xx”
