About Coffee Affair

Breakfast anchors the menu at Coffee Affair, a corner coffee shop on Church Street in Inverness, where Scottish eggs Benedict sits alongside toasties, paninis and scones. Coffee leads the drinks list, with flat whites and a chai latte finished with cinnamon on top, and non-dairy milk is on hand for anyone who needs it. Herbal teas run alongside, chamomile and peppermint among them, and a chicken option appears on the food side. Around 20 dishes make up the kitchen's range, covering light bites as well as fuller breakfast plates. Service works from the counter, so customers order first and are then served at the table, and the cafe takes walk-ins rather than bookings. It opens daily through the daytime. The Church Street setting puts it within walking distance of both the train station and the town centre.

Customer Review Summary

Coffee is what reviewers return to most, with a flat white and a non-dairy chai latte both called delicious, and a chamomile and peppermint tea described as fresh and calming. Several praise friendly, welcoming staff and a cozy, warm atmosphere. One visitor who stopped for a quick breakfast found the food delicious and wished the scones came with clotted cream. Food draws mixed comments. One reviewer didn't care for the sandwich among options like Scottish egg Benedict, toasties and paninis, and a regular calls the food overpriced. The sharpest complaints concern service. Low reviews describe a staff member with a poor attitude who never smiles, and a regular says customers who have paid are asked to leave after an hour, which led them to take their coffee elsewhere. A cyclist reports being abruptly told to move a bike parked beside the doorway. Against that, another reviewer notes the chai came with an offer of cinnamon sprinkled on top.

“This is a gem of a place! I visited week before last- found it walking from the train station to down town. I ordered a chai non-dairy latte and it was delicious! They even asked if I wanted cinnamon sprinkled on top. The staff was very …”

“I stopped here for a coffee one morning during a brief stay in Inverness. My flat white was delicious. I didn’t have a chance to try any breakfast, but they did have a variety of food items available. The service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommend for a coffee!”

“Well ordered a coffee as it looked a nice place I had a bicycle which I parked carefully outside in view just next to the doorway. As I ordered the manageress came swiftly along asking me rather abruptly to move my bike. You know the sort of person that doesn't know misery is optional and really doesn't kike cyclists. Any way I did as I was told and got a coffee round the corner at Ember Cafe which was very good and a pleasent smile for free. I think it was the brown haired lady mentioned in the review below, im not alone 😂”
  • Sarah Dickson
“I actually left a 5 star review around a year ago because I genuinely enjoyed coming here, but after this experience I won’t be back. …”
