Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the ribs, one describing spare ribs as sticky, meaty and crispy outside, another ordering salt and pepper ribs with pancake spring rolls. Close behind are salt and pepper chicken, beef curry and chips, and prawn and peppers with black bean sauce, called the highlight of one meal. Reviewers repeatedly mention food arriving hot, generous portions and friendly staff and drivers, and several note how busy it always is, though one says the phone line can be hard to get through at peak times. Criticism is mixed. One calls it a decent but average takeaway, citing odd-looking sweet and sour chicken balls and egg fried rice lacking taste. Another found the Kung Po chicken stringy and chewy and the prawn crackers bland. One reports terrible chips and a slow delivery despite living close by. One reviewer advises asking for the sauce on the side with the crispy shredded beef.

“Overall, a really good meal. Loved the prawn and peppers with black bean sauce (highlight of the meal) and crispy duck rolls. If you like crispy shredded beef be sure to ask for the sauce on the side.”

“Have been getting my Chinese takeaway from Magic Wok for over 10 years and I have never had a bad one yet. Staff are all very friendly along with the delivery drivers as well. Can be hard to get through sometimes at peek times, but it shows how good they are from being so busy. Food always arrives hot, and do there very best if something isn't right with your order. My go to dish is salt and peper ribs, pancake spring rolls and extra spicy mixed szechuan with fried rice 👌 Would highly recommend The Magic Wok takeaway. Best Chinese in Inverness 🙌”

“If you fancy a proper Chinese takeaway that doesn't taste like it was phoned in from the 1990s, you need to get yourself to The Magic Wok. Honestly, it's become my guilty pleasure , the kind of place where I tell myself "just once this month" and then magically appear there again the following week. The food arrives piping hot every single time (none of that lukewarm disappointment you sometimes get), and the portions are so generous you'll be eating leftovers for lunch the next day while secretly smiling like you've won the lottery. The staff are proper sound too , friendly, quick, and they never make you feel like you're interrupting their life story when you phone in an order. But let's talk about the real heroes on the menu. The spare ribs? Absolute legends. Sticky, meaty, and packed with flavour, they come out crispy on the outside and fall off the bone tender. I swear they should come with a warning because once you start, it's dangerously hard to stop. The salt and pepper chicken is another belter, crispy, spicy, and seasoned just right so you keep sneaking "one more piece" until the box is mysteriously empty. Even the classics like chicken fried rice and chow mein are next level. Loads of actual chicken (not just suspicious little nuggets), fresh veg that still has a bit of crunch, and sauces that actually taste homemade rather than straight from a packet. Nothing greasy, nothing cold, just proper comforting Chinese done well. Whether you're feeding the family after a long day, treating yourself on a Friday night, or nursing a hangover with some epic chips and curry sauce, Magic Wok in Culloden delivers. Fair prices, fast service, and food that makes you do that little happy food dance on the sofa. 10/10, would demolish a mountain of spare ribs again without hesitation. If you're local, stop scrolling and just go order it – your taste buds will thank you, even if your waistband doesn't!”
