  “Our first visit. Stopped for lunch and far exceeded our expectations. Excellent food, we choose generous sized small plates and sandwiches, but there are plenty of enticing larger mains. The quality of the food was exceptional. And Ruby served my fiance and me efficiently and courteously. Excellent in every respect.”

  “We ate here two nights whilst staying at otter falls and both evenings the food was delicious, brilliant service and a warm welcome. The atmosphere was only down to 4 as it lacked a little “coziness” in the bar area. Otherwise a great pub and delicious food”

  “Another fantastic visit on route from Cornwall. We went for lunch on Saturday. Plenty of inside and outside spaces to dine. . Dog friendly. I ordered my dog a Dogs Dinner, 2 sausages. We had the chicken, sausage and mash, lemon sole and crayfish and a mixed berry cheesecake. Everything was delicious. Staff are all lovely and efficient. Toilets are very clean and on the ground floor. Field next to the pub to walk our dog.”

  “We called in Saturday lunchtime without pre booking. We were welcomed straight away and when we asked for a table for 2 plus a dog for lunch we were told there could be a 40 minute wait but actually if we ordered quick they could slot us in before a big party. That suited us, we were shown to our table and our drinks order taken quickly followed by our lunch order. At no time were we made to feel rushed. We ordered sandwiches and they were huge and delicious! Came with coleslaw, crisps and salad. Service great, food tasty, lovely friendly atmosphere, busy for a Saturday lunch which is great to see.”

  “We thought we would try this pub for some food as a break point on our drive back from Cornwall. The chap behind the bar was friendly and got some water for our dog. The drinks were good but we were disappointed with our food as my Lasagne was a portion which was placed in a pie bowl with cheese added then well over cooked in the oven, though the small salad and garlic bread were good. My wife has the Ham, egg and chips so what could go wrong, well the ham was tasty and the egg good but the chips appeared to have been kept warm for a few hours and were not really edible, how can you mess chips up so badly. I shared our experience with chap who served us and he removed our drinks from our bill but why do establishments serve food in the afternoon if they don’t have the staff who make simple dishes, disappointing.”

  “Excellent food, service, and a nice calm and relaxing atmosphere for my doggie, Bruno. A good range of ales and all at a great price (main and drink cost around £20). Dessert board had a great range of options.”

  “The BEST sandwich I’ve ever had from a pub. A wonderful place, stunning area, lovely welcoming staff and even when they were busy they were very accommodating. The food was divine in a lush setting. Beautiful pub and I’d highly recommend the Sidmouth Arms.”

  “Very welcoming friendly staff. Quiet for an early lunch but was busy when we left. Very good food. Started going regularly as my parents also like it there. Very good service and staff friendliness with children. Very good with catering for my wheat anaphylaxis allergy.”
