About Gun Brewery & Taproom
Gun Brewery & Taproom is a brewery at Hawthbush Farm in Heathfield, where the taproom sits beside the working brewery and interior windows look onto the brewing operations. The beers are made with the brewery's own Sussex spring water and are unfined and unfiltered, mostly vegan and predominantly gluten free. The bar pours seven draft beers and two cask beers, with cider alongside. Food trucks serve street food on site and are regularly present at events. The programme includes a vinyl night with DJs every two weeks, a run club and other themed nights. The large bar area has plenty of tables and seating, and the site looks out over open grassland and fields.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beer, praising a wide range of styles across draft and cask pours, plus cider, with the vinyl music nights close behind, where the regular DJs are described as bringing great vibes. The setting comes up repeatedly, with views across the fields, birdsong, lighting around the site and brewery operations visible through interior windows. Food trucks, themed nights and a Sunday run club give people reasons to make a night of it, and the site is described as dog and family friendly, with plenty of seating inside and out. One family hosted a 30th birthday in the stretch tent and found the booking communicative and smoothly organised. The one criticism is from a reviewer who wanted stronger beers and a bigger selection of hazies and imperials, though they still found the beers good overall. Several note that Spitfires often fly over while they drink outside.

“Hidden Gem in East Sussex! What a great idea, tap room/well stocked bar next to the brewery. Large bar area plus lots of seating & tables outside plus open grassland beyond. Regular outside catering plus music events small & large. Unfortunately we could only stay an hour!”
