About Peter's Plaice
Peter's Plaice is a fish & chips shop at 2 High St in Haverfordwest, established in 1960 and now run by its third generation of the same family. The menu covers cod and haddock fish and chips, plaice with chips and mushy peas, and chips with curry sauce. Gluten free options are clearly labelled. Customers order at the counter, and the team brings the food out to the table in the seating area inside. A full bar pours draught beer, lager, cider and a local brew, with cold drinks alongside. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Gluten free fish and chips draw the most praise, with reviewers singling out the gluten free cod and chips and a gluten free batter one diner found crispier than the regular. Clear labelling of what is gluten free and an owner who understands coeliac preparation are mentioned by those diners. Close behind, the fish gets credit for being fresh and flaky, with cod, haddock and plaice all named, alongside crispy chips and mushy peas. Others praise a doner kebab and chips, curry sauce, and loaded fries with pulled beef brisket, plus the draught beers and the garden out the back. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and the queue is said to move quickly even when the shop is busy. The main criticism comes from one three-star reviewer who found the fish and chips average, with the batter not great and the chips a bit soggy. Another would like better condiments, being Heinz and Stokes loyalists. Portions are described as enormous, and one hiker arrived starving and still could not finish a gluten free cod and chips.

“Had the Loaded Fries with pulled Beef Brisket tonight, with salad, chilli, yoghurt & mint sauces. It was absolutely delicious! All gone! Definitely a must try! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“Fish and chips very average. Staff friendly and service quick. Outside table needed a wipe. Disappointing. In response to owner comment:- I am afraid it was your place. 15 minutes is what I would expect, but efficient, a better choice of word. You had been recommended and as such the food was okay, but disappointing. In fairness it was a busy night and everyone has an off day! Batter not great and chips a bit soggy!”

“Fantastic gluten-free fish and chips in St Davids! The owner was lovely and clearly understands coeliac disease and safe food preparation. My fish was delicious and freshly prepared. Plenty of seating inside too, which is a big plus. Definitely recommended!”

“Very tasty gluten free fish and chips. A very rare case where I'd say the gluten free batter was in some ways better than the regular it was so damn crispy! Good selection of drinks, clear labels of what you can have gluten free, very friendly and patient staff... All in all very happy, and will happily be back!”
