Customer Review Summary

Afternoon tea is what most reviewers come for, with tea for 2 described as sandwiches, salad, homemade crisps, and scones with cream, butter and jam, plus a drink and a slice of cake such as the banoffee cheesecake. One reviewer mentions a huge teapot, and several say they were too full to finish their cake and were given a box to take it home. Cakes are close behind, with Biscoff cheesecake, Red Velvet Cake with Biscoff and a Chocolate Kinder cake called moist, tasty and creamy. One reviewer says staff offered to make a Victoria Sponge for the next day when it was sold out. Staff are repeatedly called lovely, and the coffee is praised by a visitor from out of town. The complaints are specific. One diner was refused a swap on a breakfast plate and told full price still applied, calling it rigid. A parent says the ball pit must be booked online in advance, so food arriving left only ten minutes of play, and an older staff member asked her to supervise her children in the library. Another reviewer felt underwhelmed compared with past visits.

“Cracking place. We came from Penzance and stayed with family near by and the coffee saved us from our familie's terrible instant rubbish. The young lady that served me every day was lovely. We'll be back soon. Jimmy.”

“Asked for a simple swap on my breakfast due to personal food preferences and made it clear I wasn’t bothered what it was swapped for, as long as I could enjoy the full plate. I was told no and that I’d still need to pay full price. A small bit of flexibility like this is basic customer service and wouldn’t have cost anything extra, I work in hospitality myself, so I know how important it is to actually look after the customer. The response here just felt unnecessarily rigid and quite shocking from a service point of view. Actually hadn't eaten from here in a long time and I will now be returning to exactly that.”

“I brought my American girlfriend here last year and she loved the cakes, and especially the Victoria Sponge…. They didnt have Victoria Sponge this time (but lots of others!!)….. But they offered to make one for the next day if we wanted to come back!!!!…… Awesome cakes, relaxing atmosphere and awesome staff!!!!!!…… Absolutely recommend!!!!!!!!”

“first time going to Gingerbread House food was lovely the ladies that were serving us for food were lovely the only thing i would say is if you want to go to the ball pit there you have to book it advanced online so we only had 10 minutes on there as our food came so we didn’t get the full time in the ball pit so if you want to book the ball pit in advanced i suggest you play in the ball pit first then have you lunch so you don’t miss out on the time you have payed for and another thing you cant leave you children in the library while sat on the table where i was watching my children as the elderly lady will say can you supervise your children when i was watching them as i had two children and i was on my own with my children who also have Adhd and autism so there not easy children but they were well behaved apart from that i really enjoyed the day 😀”
