Quick info
About Popeyes Louisiana Chicken
Popeyes Louisiana Chicken is a chicken restaurant at St Oswalds Retail Park in Gloucester, serving a Louisiana-inspired menu built around fried chicken. Biscuits and mashed potato sit on the menu as sides, and fries and a spicy mayo are listed too. A sharer meal is there for tables that want to split a spread of chicken between them. A drive-thru lets customers order and collect without leaving the car, so a meal can be picked up on the move. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the fried chicken, described as crispy outside and juicy inside, with several calling the food delicious. Close behind are the Big Cajun Wrap, the sharer meal that one reviewer calls good value, the fries, the spicy mayo, and a kids meal with two large pieces of chicken. Service is described as fast even when busy, and several call the dining room clean, though one notes an occasional uncleared table. Toilets are the recurring complaint, with two reviewers calling them filthy and one listing overflowing, unflushed and leaking facilities. Two others report pink chicken, and one of them also describes wrong orders, hard stale biscuits and a solid block of mashed potato. Parking is described as hard to find, with the drive-thru as the workaround. One reviewer says a server responded quickly and politely each time he was asked for a cup, ketchup and napkins.

“Toilets are filthy! Ordered food they didn’t give me enough cups, stood for 10 mins for 1 staff to approach me, and her attitude stunk! Returned to the table to cold food, and pink chicken absolute waste of money! First visit & last 👌”

“Now, this is my second Popeye's experience and can I say despite the soda machine running out of all but Dr.Pepper I genuinely believe this might be the best Popeye's in the UK. The customer service was second to none, genuinely the best customer service in any fast food establishment I've ever been to. I don't know the gentlemen's name (older chap) but he truly had 'boss man" energy. Nothing was too difficult or too much of an ask. I bet that man essentially carries that place with his positivity. Of course the usual stuff is true, place was clean and tidy with actually a really nice atmosphere for a fast food place. Genuinely, if this was the experience I'd always get in Popeye's I don't think I'd ever go anywhere else.”

“Absolutely appalling experience at Popeyes. Both of our orders were completely wrong, but honestly that became the least of the problems once we actually saw the food. The biscuits were so hard and stale they could genuinely be smashed against the table without breaking — they were like hockey pucks. The hash brown looked absolutely disgusting and resembled something you’d scrape off the bottom of a shoe rather than food served to paying customers. The mashed potato came out as one solid block, as if it had been sitting there for hours. Most concerning of all was the chicken, which was visibly pink inside. Serving undercooked chicken is not “bad service” — it’s a serious food safety issue and genuinely dangerous. I’m honestly shocked this was allowed to leave the kitchen. For the prices being charged, this level of quality is embarrassing. Completely unacceptable standards, terrible quality control, and one of the worst fast-food experiences I’ve had. The food should never have been served in that condition and I think I could count the quality of the food as a physical attack on my wellbeing and soul.”

“DO NOT LIKE BEING SERVED AT THE DRIVE THROUGH BY A ROBOT. But the member of staff at the collection window was nice and polite. Food was ok. I was hoping for something significantly different in flavour to KFC but it was pretty similar.”

“I had a really great experience at Popeyes Louisiana Chicken and would happily return. The service was fast and efficient, even though the place was very busy, which is always a good sign. The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, full of flavour, and exactly what you’d expect. The restaurant itself is a beautiful place to sit and enjoy your meal. It does get quite crowded, so you might come across the occasional table that hasn’t been cleared yet, but that’s completely understandable given how busy it is and how hard the staff are clearly working. Overall, a very enjoyable visit with great food and speedy service. Definitely worth a visit!”
