About Thundercat Pub + Diner

Thundercat Pub + Diner is a Glasgow diner at 86 Miller St, run by the team behind Buck's Bar. The kitchen focuses on Chicago-style deep dish pizza, built on a buttermilk base and topped with a tomato sauce slow cooked for 8 hours. Pepperoni and BBQ pies are on the menu, and one pie can be shared between two alongside sides. Fresh pressed waffles and Nashville dry rub wings with blue cheese dip fill out the food side. A gluten free menu and vegetarian options sit alongside the main list. The bar serves cocktails, and you can take a seat there for just a drink. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary

Deep dish pizza pie is what reviewers return to most, with the pepperoni and the bbq versions named, and one visitor who knew Chicago calling it the best of its kind they had found in the UK. Close behind are the sides and extras: Nashville dry rub wings, tater tots, a Coco Bongo Hard Shake, a chocolate brownie with ice cream, and cocktails that several praise. Portions are described as massive and very filling, and reviewers mention the music, the vibe, and a bar where drinks alone are an option. Staff are called friendly, lovely and accommodating, and one party describes a surprise donut with a candle and singing for a birthday lunch. The main criticism comes from one reviewer who found the cooking poor, with cold unmelted cheese on the pizza pie, bready and soft fried pickles, and dry, chewy burnt ends that were not warm, though they wondered if it was just a bad day. Another had a jack and coke served in a glass broken around the rim and received a replacement. Several say they cannot wait to return.

“The food was amazing. Myself and partner went, each our first time. We ordered some sides a main each. It all came together. Which was weird I thought to start with, but seeing it all there, being able to pick away at what we wanted, it was nice. I did receive a jack and coke, the glass was broken around the rim, I was given a replacement. They have a great list of food, drinks. Cant wait to come back again.”

“Just as a random guy that's been to Chicago this is top notch pizza. 🤘 One pizza and a side of Nashville dry rub wings with blue cheese dip and veggie sticks (small detail that brings me back to American Pizza joint - veggies on the side are so important! cleansing the 🔥 😆) -- with 2 drinks for under 35 quid is a great deal. Make sure you book ahead! Best damn Chicago pizza I've had in the UK”
  • Sarah M
“Love the vibe of the place and good music. Came here for my brother's 50th birthday lunch. There's something for everyone. Nice to have a gluten free menu for my sister and veggie options. Staff are exceptional and so lovely. They overheard my mum telling him off for having another beer and us saying it's his birthday to leave him alone and at the end they came out with a wee surprise donut and candle singing to him with smiles. Thanks everyone! (Also the food was so good, massive portions!)”
