Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips draw the most praise, eaten outside in the sunshine, with one reviewer adding pavlova. Close behind are the mussels with crusty, warm bread, plus the steak pie, chowder and shared starters. A cauliflower burger is called a little different from standard pub food, and beef shin on the fries is called tasty. Reviewers also like the beer, with cask ales from Cairngorm and Cromarty on tap, and the Speyside whisky suggestions from the manager. Staff are called friendly and are said to cope when the pub fills, though one reviewer saw a single person covering tables and the bar on a busy Monday. The complaints are specific. One guest was asked to leave a table mid drink while another party was seated there, despite no booking system. Desserts were called overpriced for their size, and tables sit close together with uncomfortable stools. A big dog is hard to fit under the tables. One reviewer notes the bus back to Forres stops right outside.

“Great experience. I had the mussels which were excellent. The bread that came with it was crusty, warm, and delicious. My dad had the steak pie, and my brother had the chowder. Everything was great, and it's in a really cool spot. Go out of your way to eat here.”

“Great food at reasonable prices. Deserts perhaps a bit overpriced for the size of the offering What lets the place down is the poor attitude of the staff. I had eaten and was enjoying my drink- and planning another when the waitress asked me to vacate my table. She even ushered another guest to sit at the table whilst telling me to leave. If there was a booking system in place for tables and the table was only booked for a certain time that would be understandable- but no such system exists at this establishment. The staff need to consider how there behaviour and approach towards paying guests can easily turn a positive experience into a negative one”

“Food here is very good. Staff are friendly and professional. It's dog friendly but there's a lot of extra seating at tables so it can be hard to get them underneath tables if your dog is big.”

“Great pub and great location. Do not be put off by the plain exterior. Pub also had a great history”
