About Java & Jazz
Java & Jazz is a cafe on The Square in Forest Row, with seating on both an upstairs and a downstairs level. The same kitchen also handles event catering, either served onsite or delivered to the venue. The menu includes pizza, with Hawaiian pizza among the options, and a sausage roll for something smaller. Coffee comes alongside fresh-made smoothies. Gluten free and vegan choices are available, and the cakes and biscuits rotate, so the selection changes from one visit to the next. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the pizzas and lasagne, with one reviewer calling a shared pizza and salad filling and very tasty, and another praising a Hawaiian pizza and spaghetti bolognese for the children. Close behind are the vegan and gluten free options, including a vegan jazz breakfast, a banana fudge cake and gluten free sponges, along with cakes that rotate. Coffee is called great, and a cappuccino and sausage roll earned praise on a cycling stop. Several describe a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and sitting outside in the sun. One reviewer who brought their own birthday cake found the team lit candles and decorated the desserts. The caveats are about value and takeaway service. One reviewer found the sausage roll expensive and disliked an automatic service charge, and another describes takeaway staff who made no eye contact, tapped a screen to show where to pay and dumped the boxes on the counter. One diner seated upstairs found it less lively.

“Takeaway food was pretty good. Service was average at best. 2 girls who obviously didn't want to be there. No eye contact, no conversation. Tapped the screen to tell me where to pay, dumped my boxed on the counter without saying anything, and then had a conversation with her colleague with a few ffff"s thrown in for good measure. It's a public facing position !!!”

“Was in the area randomly from Nottingham, and stumbled across this gem. Can honestly say one of the nicest places I’ve ever been to. Gutted it is so far away from home, but I would consider a 350 mile trip to eat here again. I had a salad which was so fresh and tasty, great portion too. Partner had lasagne, absolute unreal. Children had Hawaiian pizza and spaghetti bolognese, both again was 10/10.”

“Had a fantastic fresh made mango and banana smoothie with a vg gf banana fudge cake. Taking a mango vanilla gf sponge and an orange, marscapone gf too. Fast service. Lovely peaceful decor. Low music. Photos limited as taken to exclude people.”

“Perhaps I should have taken the photo before I started to eat it. But again, a shared pizza and salad was an inexpensive, filling, and very tasty lunch. We didn't book, so were seated in the less lively upstairs, hence the 4 stars for atmosphere. I highly recommend this cafe.”

“Stopped off for a coffee and a sausage roll during a hilly ride. Both the sausage roll and the cappuccino were amazing. The only reason there isn't a 5 star rating is because the sausage roll came in at a lofty £6.25 😲 and a 12.5% service charge was added automatically.”
