About Why Not Nightclub
Why Not Nightclub is an Edinburgh nightclub at 14 George St, set below The Dome bar and restaurant. It opened in 1997 and runs evenings only. The music mixes throwbacks with current tunes, and the club has a dance floor. Tables can be booked, with bottle service and hostesses serving at the tables. Entry comes with checks: door staff ask for ID, and a dress code is enforced. Security staff work both on the door and inside the club.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the music, a mix of throwbacks and current tunes that keeps the dance floor busy but not chaotic. Birthday groups feature repeatedly, with mentions of bottle service, a booked table, and a VK and prosecco order served by friendly hostesses. Others describe the bouncers and bar staff as kind and respectful. Door and security experiences split sharply, though. One reviewer was refused entry despite showing a valid Polish ID while younger people went in. Another was turned away over a dress code while people in hoodies and sweats were admitted. One reviewer reports a bouncer punched a friend with autism who had stepped outside to calm down. Another describes bouncers holding a friend in a corridor after she pushed away a man harassing her, an incident reported to the police. The reviewer refused over the dress code returned three days later in fancier clothes and got in.

“Men (perverts) will harrass you here - if you ask them to leave you alone they will carry on - getting right in your face whilst you beg them to leave you alone - if you DARE to defend yourself by physically pushing the perverts out your face the bouncers will trap you in a corridor whilst telling you "they are going to do something about her" what does that even mean? Obviously all her friends who witnessed this harrassment and the pervert telling lies to the bouncers immediately insisted our friend was released from the bouncers makeshift prison and left this dump. Incident of harrassment and kidnapping/imprisonment by the bouncers reported to the police.”

“Dear Manager, I would like to make a formal complaint regarding my experience at your club. On 05/07/2026 time , I arrived at your venue dressed appropriately and presented my valid Polish national ID I'm DJ 46 old big experience with clubs, when requested by your door staff. After checking my ID, I was refused entry without a clear explanation, while I observed other, younger people being allowed to enter. I found this experience upsetting and unfair. I am concerned that I may have been treated differently because of my nationality or background. If there was another reason for refusing me entry, I would appreciate a clear explanation. I would be grateful if you could investigate this incident and let me know the reason for the decision made by your door staff. I look forward to your response. Yours faithfully,”
