About Woods Barbers
Woods Barbers is a barber shop in Edinburgh at 12 Drummond St, set in an old-fashioned shop interior that is about 100 years old and has been kept as it was for years. The barbers cut hair, and beard trims are offered alongside the haircuts, so one visit can cover both. Customers can chat with the barbers while they are in the chair. Payment is cash only. The shop is short-staffed and in demand, so a queue or wait forms at times.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise haircuts that match what was asked for, with several saying the barbers follow instructions closely or instantly judge the best style from the shape of the cut. Friendly conversation comes close behind, with the younger barbers described as a right chat and regulars calling the banter fun. Parents say the barbers are patient, kind and gentle with toddlers who wiggle, scream and cry through their cuts, and one reviewer who came in for a beard trim calls it a solid service. Prices are repeatedly described as very reasonable, and one reviewer recommends the shop to students. The homely shop and its 100 year old interior are praised for keeping their nostalgic character. The main caveat is a slight queue, which one reviewer puts down to the shop being understaffed and in high demand, though cuts are quick and efficient once in the chair. One customer has come since the age of eight, and another had a small matter of personal taste adjusted happily on request.

“Was an okay haircut, I enjoyed it for some time, the younger lads are a right chat and genuinely made me come back..Great cuts and conversations and just genuine people who were kind. This was my experience until the older gentleman was in once and I would usually have waited for the others to be free but as it was close to closing I had to go for a cut with him. Upon speaking it was fine seemed kind and a decent convo, until he began talking about politics to me (let's just say that facade went quickly). Began telling me about "two tier systems" (a term I wasn't aware of at the time) and how in the uae they cut hands if people steal (thats not true btw is an overstatement by people who are educated only by Facebook and not by international legal systems). He also seemed to take issue with "the immigrant leaders" we have (their not immigrants but people born here who rises through politics to lead THEIR nations). Anyways I stopped going after that, didn't feel right to give my money and truth be told his comfortableness to speak like that seemed like if I stayed longer and was white id have heard a less watered down version (although what I had heard was enough to deduce that this man is old and spends too much time reading Facebook rather than actual books). Anyways I think people should know this before they want to pay money to the old man, the others are good lads tho.”

“Only 13 pounds for a quick and very good looking cut. Barbers could instantly tell the best hairstyle based on shape, which I found ver convenient. Strongly recommend this place for anyone looking for a reliable place to get a haircut and perhaps somewhere to have a friendly chat with.”
