Customer Review Summary
Diners single out the coffee as the standout, with flat whites and lattes repeatedly praised for quality and aroma, and several also highlight the hot chocolate as rich and smooth. The pastries earn frequent mention, especially sourdough croissants with ham and cheese or jam, and a cinnamon roll described as exceptional. A few note the broad selection of scrumpy toasties, baguettes, and sweet treats. One reviewer reports a burnt croissant and calls the pricing high for the quality, comparing it unfavorably to chain options. Another suggests adding air conditioning for summer comfort.

“£13 for two croissants and one is burnt. I didnt realise Dundee had transitioned into london pricing. For the quality of the food, its no where near worth what they're charging. For £13 the bar must be higher. They arent bad. you can taste some quality ham, but I could go to any costa coffee and find the same thing. The place looks nice. tables neat and little condoments for you to take.”

“Popped in while visiting Dundee and picked up a flat white and a bag of ground coffee. Delicious coffee and the beans were ground exactly as requested. Will definitely visit again any time I'm in Dundee!”

“Absolutely lovely little spot, with delicious food! Sooo many options for scrumpy toasties, baguettes, croissant sandwiches and sweet treats. My partner and I stopped in here on a long drive and he described his cinnamon roll as better than anything he's ever had in London. Thanks so much!”

“I have been to Empire State Coffee twice now, and I absolutely loved both the dark and white hot chocolate. They were rich, smooth, and delicious! The atmosphere was really nice, chill, and perfect for relaxing on my own. The service was great, too, which made the experience even better.”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Every listing is re-checked on a recurring crawl, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
