“Superb Breakfast with eggs to your liking, poached, great scrambled eggs, superb kitchen staff who can cook a medium rare steak. This establishment has been on the go for centuries, but it is the accommodating staff that really added to our break, From the attentive morning staff dealing with breakfast, the bar staff and those unsung chambermaid staff happy to talk about restocking items and cleaning the rooms. Really it was the staff that truly made the difference to our stay. A reasonably priced tethered 7Kwh destination charger in the car park would make life a little easier, as Devizes is devoid of superchargers.”

“Our second group visit, this time for golf. Staff as always excellent and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a great variety, all cooked freshly to order. Located in the centre square at Devizes. Plenty of pubs and food venues on the doorstep. We had an evening meal at The Bear which was excellent. Highly recommended, not pretentious. A very friendly and enjoyable place to stay”

“I was in Devizes for a hard martial arts training weekend and the Bear Hotel was the venue for our "brotherhood" dinner. We arrived about 30 minutes before the meal and I must I was very impressed with the overall atmosphere and decor. The bar staff were up beat and helpful. We sat in a window seat in the bar area and enjoyed a relaxing drink, before moving into the function room. There were about 35 people at the meal, which was a buffet. The food was top notch and the was plenty of it too. Some people had food allergies which were catered for by the chef. Speaking with one of the persons who needed allergy care and they were just as happy and impressed with their food.”
