About Boswell's Coach House
Boswell's Coach House is a cafe in Cumnock, set on the Auchinleck Estate. An on-site gift shop sells clothes, jewellery and toys, so a visit can combine a stop for food with browsing for gifts. The cakes include some gluten free options, which gives guests avoiding gluten a choice on the menu. A play area on site gives families with children somewhere to play, and the shop's toys add a second reason for them to browse.

“Food was delicious ..Waitress very rude older lady blonde hair wearing a black gilet.. been here 3 times now always the same rude woman absolutely no manners she needs to find a job she enjoys...such a shame because everything else is excellent . The lady in the gift shop was lovely and very helpful. Loved that this place is dog friendly.”

“Venue goes above and beyond for couple and work so well with suppliers. From the moment I stepped onto the estate I was greeted and made so welcomed. …”

“We stopped for coffee and a cake travelling home and certainly wasn’t disappointed. The mocha was delicious and hot and the cakes were even better. The highland cows were a massive bonus as I’m a huge fan. Definitely be back”

“What a lovely place. Food was delicious. Service fantastic. Staff friendly. Spotlessly clean. Smashing wee gift shop. Beautiful front sitting area with log burner & couches. Excellent outdoor play area too & all disabled friendly. Just go. Highly recommended ❤”

“Very nice place. Staff are absolutely fantastic. Food is tasty. Prices same as everywhere else. Jacket potato skins are very crispy (which I preffer) but could do with a pizza/steak knife rather than a standard one to cut them up. It can get very busy over the weekends around lunchtime so you have to be prepared to wait for a table. Staff are very good at clearing the tables though, but at the same time they're not rushing anyone to leave - one of these things that will keep us coming back. Even though the restaurant gets very busy and noisy (in a good way) and the tables are quite close together it doesn't feel cramped and you don't feel you have to shout for your friends at the table to hear you - it may have something to do with good acoustics of this place? It feels very comfortable. Very good selection of cakes, including some Gluten Free, and a good choice of food from the menu. Mainly for meat eaters and vegetarians rather than vegans or GF, but the staff are more than happy to accommodate to your needs. Toilets could do with a hook to hang your jacket on. Gift shop sells a lot of different things, clothes, jewellery, toys, etc. This weekend (24/25 Nov) there was a Christmas fayre on. There was a really good turnout with quite few stalls selling handmade jewellery, cards, sweets, etc. There's a play area and a Gorge Walk nearby. It's very manageable, just over a mile long, with a big part of it sheltered by the trees. Some impressive views down the Dippol Burn. You can also find and enjoy other walks, cliffs and caves in the area. You can't however enter the restaurant with your muddy boots on. You might want to bring a pair to change into after the walk. On the whole a very lovely place and definitely one of my favourites 👍🏻👍🏻”
