Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the American BBQ-style food, with sizzling fajitas, burgers and a ranchers feast with mac n cheese named among the dishes, and several call the portions huge or the food filling. Cocktails such as the coronarita and gingerbread martini get a mention, one reviewer calling them strong but nice. Close behind is the western decor, with jail cell seating, cowboy touches and country music that make some feel as if they are in Texas or back in America, and the lakeside setting and family-friendly feel also come up. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, polite and attentive, with one family noting a server who looked after their toddler. The caveats are specific. One reviewer found it loud on busy nights, another had a soggy bottom bun on a burger, and a Saturday lunch visit brought a long wait to order, a lunch menu displayed but said to be weekday only, and chicken club sandwiches with barely any chicken that left the diner feeling the bill was poor value. One visitor noted the whipped cream tasted less sweet than American versions.

“Went here today and left really disappointed. After being seated, we waited a long time before anyone came to take our order. We also found it frustrating that the lunch menu is still displayed on a Saturday lunchtime, but you're told it's only available Monday to Friday. The food was poor for the price. We ordered two Chicken Club Sandwiches, both of which had barely any chicken in them, along with loaded potato skins and prawns as a starter, plus the smallest pizza imaginable from the kids' menu. With refillable drinks, the total came to an eye-watering £76.15. For what was essentially a couple of sandwiches, a starter, a kids' pizza and drinks, the price is nothing short of daylight robbery. I wouldn't have minded paying that sort of money if the quality and portion sizes justified it, but they simply didn't. You could barely even call the club sandwiches sandwiches given how little filling they contained. For nearly £80, I'd expect a proper meal, not tiny portions that leave you wondering where your money went. Smith & Western should be ashamed of charging these prices for such poor value. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.”

“I decided to come in and have a nice meal with my other half and it was wonderful, Everyone is so lovely, and Freya who I believe is new is an amazing asset to your team! So friendly and couldn’t help enough. Such a lovely time. Lara the capybara had the best time and loves her new seat :)”

“Great spot for a family dinner! The jail cell seating and quirky cowboy decor always keep the kids entertained. The food is solid, classic American BBQ fare—the portions are huge, and the burgers hit the spot. Service was friendly and attentive, though it can get quite loud on busy nights. A wonderful, fun atmosphere overall."”

“First time in this western, lovely staff, lovely place. Don’t book and was seated straight away, wasn’t left waiting and the food was great.”

“What a beautifull place next to some lakes , visited here at night the setting was amazing. When entering you are greeted by the staff and country music playing in the background and when you look around there is so much stuff set up like your in texas. Ordered cocktails which were strong but nice then the food arrived still sizzling on the plate. The burger was tasty only thing i tried to pick up but the bottom bun was soggy from the salad but amazing experience, staff were so happy and polite.”
