About Subway

Subway is a sandwich shop in Congleton, based at Unit E. As part of a chain, it runs on a counter-serve format where customers order at the counter and pick the fillings for their own sandwich. Salads follow the same build-your-own approach, and the menu carries choices for people watching what they eat. The business is also classed as a fast food restaurant and a takeout restaurant, so it works as a quick-service stop.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the counter staff, with one young worker described as hard working, quick and always smiling, and another lady called friendly and helpful. The complaint is attitude: a tall young employee asked customers what they wanted in a rude tone and stayed on his phone while people waited. One reviewer found the food dry and uncovered, though the older man on the till was lovely.

“If you want to improve this place, get rid of the young tall lad working there. Unfriendly, rude, asks ‘what do you want’ and more interested in using his phone when customers are waiting to order. Please also review your food safety standards, saw a fly going into the salad and lettuce looked like it was from the day before. Worst subway experience I’ve ever had. Won’t be going back to that branch.”

“absolutely amazed with the young lad that worked there we had a good chat and got to know his name "jack" such a nice lad but was really appalled with how the guy called Paul was treating him i am disgusted that people can call that a boss i don't see him doing any work i could also tell that this has been going on for ages i really hope someone tells him to apologise to jack for how he's been treating him in my eyes jack is the only one keeping it afloat i really hope something gets done and jack gets some justice for what he deserves”

“Not a lot of enthusiasm in the shop today, I was asked “what do you want” in a rude tone, by a young lad which my partner was not impressed by, so the decent staff were told to tell the miserable one to sort his attitude out. Not a way to speak to customers at all, I’ve worked in retail- that’s not how you do it. Quite unorganised and a lot of the food looked dry due to not being covered individually which i thought was a normal thing, so I went for my usual safe option. Quite disappointed with the attitude from some of the employees, other than that the older guy on the till was lovely, the lady who took over making my sandwich was nice. I get it’s a hot day, but you wouldn’t even be able to tell in that shop as they have good air con so really, no excuse for the attitude. Also, don’t go on your phone whilst working with food, to the young lad.”

“I recently visited the store and, while the food was great, one member of staff made the whole visit incredibly uncomfortable. He was a small guy wearing a black tshirt that said manager on his badge, STAY AWAY. I went during school-ending times and witnessed this man STARE AT SCHOOL CHILDREN and make inappropriate comments WHILE I WAS BEING SERVED!! Bearing in mind these children were clearly under 16 and in their school uniforms. He even left to go stand at the door to stare even harder once he had finished serving me. I am absolutely disgusted at this behaviour. Safe to say I won't be visiting again. This behaviour really needs sorting. The other members of staff on duty were very pleasant, this is my first and last time visiting this store.”
