  “Had the best experience here. Staff were really lovely and checked up on us, the presentation of our meal was lovely and it was SO TASTY! We shared the 12pcs platter and a salmon sushi burrito and it was delightful, and we ended up perfectly full - and not a bad price at all (£30 for both of us!) Would definitely return”

  “Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. I went here on a whim to get dinner escaping the busy main high street, and we're keen to return to sit at the traditional table. Plenty of vegan options and very affordable prices considering portion sizes. The food arrived quickly and tasted good. The staff went above and beyond to make myself and my 8yo daughter comfortable, we're incredibly grateful and look forward to seeing you again. Thanks!”

  “Place was frankly really overrated. Staff were very friendly, no issues there. Place was nearly empty so our orders were taken quickly and we got the food really quick too. Ordered the takoyaki, karaage bento, prawn tempura udon, and prawn skewers. The prawn skewers were horrendously portioned. Absolute scam. I paid £6 for the prawn skewers. I knew there were only two skewers but my goodness it was pathetic. Two tiny pieces of prawn on each skewer as you can see in the picture. How scammy do you need to be to pull this stunt? Bento was alright. The rice to protein ratio was eh, but fine. The tempura udon was decent, although the tempura became soggy pretty quickly since it was directly on top of the soupy udon. Kinda beat the point of tempura, but that’s on me I suppose. Takoyaki was fine. The texture and everything was good enough, but it was truthfully on the blander size. The prawn skewers made sure I would never return to this place ever again, regardless of how highly rated they are or how tasty the food is touted to be.”

  “We really enjoyed the main meal, we both went for yaki soba, it tasted good! The service was brilliant and we loved that staff wore the traditional Japanese clothing. The dessert was a bit of a let down, it didn’t taste fresh, nor did it have much flavour or make us want more.”

  “A lovely spot in Chester to scratch the itch for Japanese food. The service is great and the atmosphere feels traditional as we had Zashiki-style seating. I’d highly recommend the katsu curry. The sushi platter was more of a good enough to satisfy a craving, but not revolutionary. Great value for money and decent portions.”

  “Honestly, was not expecting to find great Japanese food in Chester, but here we are. The gyoza were delicious (and I'm pretty sure handmade), the curry was rich and flavorful, and the tonkatsu had a great crunchy outside while the meat was tender. Heck, even my green tea was great. And it was all pretty affordable! Walked in on a Sunday evening and had no trouble getting a seat.”

  “I had a great experience at Hamayuu in Chester. I ordered miso ramen, gyozas, and tuna nigiri, and everything was really well prepared. The ramen had a rich and well-balanced broth, perfect to enjoy slowly. The gyozas were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the tuna nigiri were fresh and nicely presented. I also tried the Japanese cheesecake for dessert — light, fluffy, and not overly sweet, a perfect way to finish the meal. The atmosphere is cozy and the service is friendly and attentive, which really adds to the overall experience. Definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re looking for good quality Japanese food in Chester!”
