About Herbie's American Diner
Herbie's American Diner is a diner in Cambridge on Huntingdon Rd, decorated in a 1950s American style with old-school design. The drinks list pairs American sodas with milkshakes, and some of those milkshakes are alcoholic, so the shake order can suit adults as well. Burgers and hot dogs make up the core of the menu, and both can be customised. The Blues burger is one named option, and a salad with halloumi gives a meat-free choice. Gluten free and vegan options also appear on the menu. Portions are big. Desserts and slices of cake are available to finish the meal.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers anchor the menu for most diners, with a wide choice of burgers and hot dogs that can be customised, and one reviewer calls the Blues burger very tasty. Milkshakes and desserts come close behind. One reviewer says the dessert slices are the right size for a sweet tooth, and another suggests the American sodas and milkshakes, including the alcoholic ones. A halloumi-heavy salad pleased one diner, and others praise the gluten free and vegan choices. Several describe the old school 50s design as authentic and the waiters as friendly. The complaints are about details. One burger had a soggy bottom bun and was still tasteless after the bun was replaced, and the paper underneath was disliked. The children's mac n cheese was called bland, the fries needed more pep, and a two-piece kids' selection felt small for a four year old. Even so, a family reports that staff were happy to make the adjustments they asked for.

“Normally salads at any American place are a few leaves and a bit of dry chicken. This on the other hand was lovely! Lots of halloumi for a side portion. Son loved his selects and fries although I think 2 bits was a little small portion so just giving a 4 star on that front. Maybe for a younger kid yes but for a 4yo felt small. Typically 3 would be ideal. But saying This the price was good and we both ate all of it. The boy serving was really nice. Can’t fault !”

“Lovely staff, Food looked amazing until I tried to dig in my burger, and the bottom of the bun was so soggy, they did replace the bottom off the bun, but still the burger was tasteless. And didn't like the paper at the bottom. Other meal was gluten free witch was very nice and tasty very happy with this and also the choices for gf was good. Can not please everyone”

“Herbie's is one of those places where you eat kid's food with adult money and I love it. The place itself takes you back to the 50's with it's old school design and overall vibe. Food is delicious and you'll never leave with an empty stomach. On top of that, the waiters are super friendly and they take good care of you from the moment you step. It shows that the owners know what they're doing and put their love into this place. Would definitely come back!”
