Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the service, with full silver service and tablecloths in a traditional dining room, though one finds the staff miserable. Dishes named include escargots, Prawns in Love cooked at the table, and liver and bacon. The most critical diner found the Sunday roast average and the prawn cocktail so cold it seemed just defrosted, while the Yorkshire pudding and gravy were delicious.

“This was an ok experience. Came to celebrate a birthday and went for the Sunday set menu. The restaurant itself feels like it’s stuck in a time warp but I guess that is part of the charm. The food itself is pretty average and doesn’t warrant the hefty prices. To start I had the prawn cocktail, which was so cold it was as if the prawns had just been defrosted, the main was a Sunday roast which was nice enough but again nothing special, however the Yorkshire pudding and gravy were both delicious. Finally the dessert trolly which had lots of choose from but none of it extraordinary. The staff were pretty miserable and in summary I would not rush back.”

“I used to go here regularly for family celebrations when my parents were alive but hadn't been for 14 years until yesterday lunchtime and I was pleased to find that, apart from the waiting staff, it hasn't changed at all. It is still traditional style, with proper tablecloths and napkins and full silver service. The menu is extensive and we found we were spoilt for choice. The food was all cooked to order, was very tasty and good sized portions. No room for dessert! The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. It won't be another 14 years until we return.”
