About Spitfire Barbecue
Spitfire Barbecue is a barbecue restaurant at 1 Hannover Quay in Bristol, with indoor seating and a spot beside the river and harbour. The kitchen pairs burnt ends, made from both belly and brisket, with a jalapeño and cheese-stuffed Spitfire sausage. Pork ribs and brisket also appear on the menu, along with pulled pork, which is served as a sandwich. Sides include mac and cheese with a baked crust, dirty fries and Memphis tater tots, and braai bread and flatbread are offered too. Where possible, the team buys its meat from local suppliers.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the burnt ends, with the belly version drawing particular praise, alongside the mac and cheese and the jalapeño and cheese sausage. Pulled pork, ribs, dirty fries and memphis tater tots also get repeated credit, and several call the portions generous. The main complaint is the wait, with two reviewers describing over an hour before food arrived, though staff offered a drink to make up for it and were described as friendly. Brisket is the other sore point. One reviewer found it so tough it was hard to cut and chew, and the brisket burnt ends were dry in places. Another visiting for an early lunch found no brisket ready by mid afternoon. One reviewer called the flatbread bland, and another found the inside very noisy. Riverside and harbour views come up as a draw, and one diner was handed a free hat at the till.

“Really busy on a Friday night but a great atmosphere & a huge variety of food. Highly recommend the braai bread & memphis tater tots, they taste amazing!! Everyone in our group highly enjoyed the food. Didn't get ohitis of our mains as we ate them straight away!! So good.”

“Food was immense. Burger patty needed a tad more seasoning but overall - good food. The burger wax bigger than my head so getting dirty fries and coleslaw was totally unnecessary :) Staff were cool and helped with recommendations on potential local live music spots. Location is great as overlooking the river. Would come back.”

“I was really impressed with the amount of gluten-free options on the menu. The jalapeno cheese-stuffed sausage was particularly good. Large portions and free refills on soft drinks. Order came quickly. In-door and outdoor seating with views over the harbour”

“Had an overall good experience at Spitfire during a weekday afternoon. The food tasted amazing, and their chips were also in point! Overall a flawless experience.”

“Loved Spitfire. Visited with my son and Texan daughter in law, who fully also rated the BBQ. A feast for 3 people was £115, good value. All of the food was outstanding but shout out to the burnt ends, mac and cheese and Spitfire sausage. Service was unfailingly lovely but just a bit slow. Relax and chill into it and all good. Will return!”
