Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the large portions of hot, tasty food at China City, with the crispy beef and the beef in black beans singled out by name. Several describe attentive servers who notice when a drink is needed, and a friendly welcome from the waitress, and one calls the dining room itself in need of an update. Eating in draws far more praise than takeaway, and one reviewer who liked the dine-in meals says the same of an earlier takeaway. The complaints cluster around takeaway and delivery. Reviewers report wrong or missing items, a delivery arriving well after the promised time, and dry, overcooked salt and pepper chicken. Others mention a mushroom foo yung ruined by too much salt, dry uncooked crispy noodles, rice that fell out as a brick of mush, and won tons with no filling. One reviewer also says no one on the phone apologised for the mistakes. After a New Year's Eve order arrived incomplete and needed reheating, the customer had to request a refund for the missing food.

“Takeaway meal delivered, ordered online. Approx 35 mins later than said, items delivered were wrong orders, poor quality, most went in the bin! Definitely won't have again. Have eaten in restaurant before and was good but not this!”

“Amazing food. Lovely staff in a lovely restaurant. Couldn't ask for more. Also had take away previous which was equally as nice.”

“This is my fave in Brid and I always recommend it, I do take out so can't comment on atmosphere.. the young lady on the phone and driver are so nice polite and friendly, BUT... Though my main meal of beef in black beans was lovely.. the rice was overcooked and just fell out in a brick block of mush... The won tons had ZERO fillings (even called to double check ) trust me they are full of nothing, prawn toast is actually chicken paste. I will be back for my curry and great service but until the side orders meet prawns that's all I can recommend x”

“Mushroom foo yung really basic to make can't get it wrong can you.oh yes you can at china city just put a full container of saxa salt in it that will ruin it for you and me also.my wife ordered Kung po chicken yet again after a full container of saxa ruined.got crispy noodles came as dry uncooked noodles in a container and chips that were 5 minutes over cooked.spent £21.30 £15 of it went in the bin.had food from here before and wasn't too bad but after this total rubbish never again.”

“Disgusting avoid at any cost !!!! Travelled down 4 and a half hours to stay at a caravan park, then drove to Aldi and at the time of the night everyone was hungry to stopped off at this place for a takeaway, only got back to the caravan and ALL the chicken curry was pink after all the driving I phoned and said I’ll be coming back the next day for my money as everything went in the bin, couldn’t bear to even look at the chow mein and see what colour it was. Went back for them to only refund me £7:30 for the curry bot everthing else that went in the bin the manager said if I brought it all back yesterday they would’ve recooked it or got my money back, after the travelling I was to exhausted too. Don’t know why I even ordered from here as the shop both times were empty and had a really damp smell to it.”
