  “looking for somewhere to grab a bite whilst passing through. The Bridgend had good reviews so headed there. On passing a boarded up housing estate we were begining to have second thought, how glad we didn't. Great friendly service and fantastic food. We all had steak pie and it was great quality and generous portions.”

  “Very clean and welcoming when entering, the big doors that lead out onto the outside courtyard bring in lovely light that really brings a warmth to the place. I'm typically disappointed with the portion sizes at most places, so when we were asked if we want half or full portions (which is great that the option is there), we ordered regular sized portions and my goodness we weren't let down. Very generous helpings that ensured we weren't leaving the place hungry which is rare these days! The chips were chunky and cooked perfectly, and I was blown away by the amount of steak in my steak pie... I definitely didn't need the side of onion rings but they were worth it. All in all great food, great service and great prices, will definitely be back!”

  “Revisited this pub again to sample their newly advertised Christmas Menu and quickly remembered how I had enjoyed my original meal a year ago! Firstly it appears that the lounge has been beautifully redecorated and the additional festive attractions gives you a feeling of entering an intimate Christmas wonderland! Once more the staff I engaged with were all extremely friendly and appeared happy in their work. I had the 3 Bon Bon starter with was delicious with it's separate pieces of black pudding, white pudding and haggis with a beautiful garlic sauce. Absolutely delicious but a brave choice with two further courses to come! Next I had the traditional turkey dinner which encompassed two large slabs of meat and a huge selection of vegetable accompaniments providing a variety of flavours and tastes. To finish I had the sticky toffee pudding with both cream and ice cream. Another flavour enhanced attack on one's taste buds! Again another brilliant meal served at reasonable cost to a standard not expected at an edge of town pub. I left with stomach full and a spring in my step pleased to confirm that this little gem is still producing the quality fayre it has always done at the same very reasonable costs! Wee gem of a lounge bar offering wholesome meals in huge portions. Lovely selection of home made meals with choices to please everyone. Adequate selection of beers and spirits to suit every taste. Bar staff all very friendly and contribute to the very cosy atmosphere. Excellently decorated to demonstrate the landlady's obvious eye for detail. We'll worth a visit if you are very hungry or just for a decent pint to quench a thirst. Beer garden looks inviting for when the weather improves!”

  “3 of us ate here when we were away, food is top quality and portions are brilliant under £52 for 3 with drinks and we even had left overs boxed up to take away. Sat outside in nice setting would highly recommend and will be back whenever in the area”
