Quick info
About Simsim Mediterranean Food
Simsim Mediterranean Food is a Mediterranean restaurant in Bournemouth at 74a Charminster Rd, with an open kitchen where the food is prepped in view. A large stone or clay oven bakes the wraps and breads fresh, so the lamb shawarma wrap and the bread served with the shatshuka both come from that oven. Hummus sits among the starters and sides, and the menu also covers pizzas and grilled meat platters of lamb and chicken. Mint tea and freshly squeezed orange juice are the drinks to pair with the food. The team also hands out complimentary sweets or small starters, at the start or the end of a visit.

Customer Review Summary
Hummus comes up most often, described as velvety and rich, and served alongside a complimentary filled pastry on one visit. Close behind are the shawarma, including a lamb wrap with marinated meat and fresh salad from the open kitchen, and the falafel, which one reviewer called the best they had eaten, crispy and full of flavour. The chicken platter, lamb platter, baba ghanoush, fattoush and spinach and cheese pizza also get mentions, along with mint tea and freshly squeezed orange juice. Reviewers repeatedly describe the food as fresh, the portions as generous and the pricing as reasonable, and several praise friendly, welcoming staff. One party also had the restaurant cater a 40th birthday. The caveats are small. One diner met a blank face and a curt "bread" when asking what came with the shakshuka, had to remind staff of missed items, and wanted chips on the menu. Another found nearby parking hard. Several visits end with complimentary baklava and other sweets alongside tea.

“Giving this place 5 stars as the food is always freshly prepared and delicious, at a price that is very reasonable. Not many places left that you can eat for under a tenner but this is one of them and week worth a visit. Was given complimentary baklava and other sweets at the end of my last visit, a pleasant touch and great with the tea 😀”

“I've been to Simsim many times and have always been really pleased with the food, value for money, and the excellent service. Chef Mr Mohammed , Ms Meenakshi , Mr Safwan and mr Rahul are exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making every visit enjoyable. It's also clear that the restaurant has many loyal regular customers, which speaks volumes about the quality of the place. Highly recommended!!”

“It our first time visiting as we had come to Bournemouth for a few days. Menu is vast a good variety but when our order was taken there wasn't any recommendations for our waitress or any friendly interaction, with i asked what came with my Shatshuka I was met with a blank face then waitress said "bread" likeit would be assumed that I knew. We had to remind staff of our order when things were missed but when food came out, it was not a disappointment. Everwas lovely, we had the lamb plater, Shatchuka, cheese and tomato pizza and hummus and falafel for starters. These were the best falafel I've had no doubt.. lovely and crispy and full of flavour 😋 Its a really busy little restaurant, looks like its popular with the locals too. I would actually return but would love to see chips on the menu”

“Sim Sim catered for my 40th party, and it honestly was the best experience. The food was incredible, as usual, and the service was fantastic when planning the menu etc etc. All communication was really friendly and helpful and they helped make my party such a special occasion. I can't recommend Sim Sim enough. All my guests were so in love with the food and wanted to know all about the restaurant. Thank you Sim Sim! You are amazing!!!”

“If you are looking for an authentic dining experience that feels both personal and high-quality, this spot is a must-visit. Having returned several times during my stay in Bournemouth, I can confidently say it is one of the town's hidden gems. The menu focuses on simple, traditional Palestinian dishes executed to perfection. Every plate arrives incredibly fresh, bursting with vibrant flavours that reflect genuine home-style cooking and the quality is consistent. What truly elevates the experience, however, is the hospitality. The staff are exceptionally kind, attentive, and welcoming, making you feel like a regular from your very first visit. For the level of service and the calibre of the food, it is also very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking delicious food served with a warm, friendly smile. I look forward to coming back again!”
