About Toby Carvery Cooper Dean
Toby Carvery Cooper Dean is a carvery in Bournemouth, on Cooper-Dean, that opens daily and runs an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. For the main meal, a carver serves the meat at the counter, with beef, lamb and pork among the choices, and vegetables and gravy come with the plate. The carvery is self-serve, while a server looks after the table and takes the order. Dogs are welcome, so diners can bring their pets along.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply on the staff, and the carved meat sits at the center of both the praise and the complaints. Positive diners describe tender, succulent carved meats, pork in particular, alongside well-cooked vegetables, traditional gravy and a superb Yorkshire pudding. Several single out friendly servers and a welcoming carver as the highlight of the visit. Close behind, the negatives name rude carvery staff and managers. One reviewer describes a beef slice an inch thick, uncooked cauliflower and potato gratin, and gravy likened to dirty dish water. Others report dry, chewy or stringy lamb and beef. A few describe running out of beef in the evening, with one waiting 30 minutes and another leaving without eating after being told only two portions of meat remained. One reviewer says they paid for three coffees at the extra cost despite confirming with a waitress that coffee came with the Sunday roast. Another says they were unaware of a three hour parking rule. One diner who asked for a refund after a bad night received it in cash from the manager.

“First night out of our uk vacation. Staff were amazing and very helpful food was good and we had a great evening. My one thing I hated was, we were not aware of the 3 hour parking rule. But thank you for a great evening”

“Very disappointed we turned up at 8:25 to get dinner and the lady at the front said I’m just about to get the meat in we only have 2 left but you’re okay to eat. We checked it out and was happy to eat, upon going up to get food the man behind was very rude but we just ignored it, then my sister wanted to join the table just sit there and not eat and the lady’s attitude was disgraceful told her she had to sit in the bar on her own- what would be the harm in her sitting on the table ? We then stood there getting food and the man carried on being rude. I said to my partner oh kids eat for £1 and the lady was just stood there staring at us and went only with an adult main meal which we had one - state the obvious. I just felt like we wasn’t wanted there so we left didn’t bother to eat. I think they really need to have a word with the staff at this restaurant on how they treat customers and customer service. I will never return to this restaurant again and every single staff member we come across was rude.”

“Our carvery was Andrew who was very friendly and funny. The meat was very tasty although sadly the lamb and beef were a little chewy and stringy. The waiting staff were all lovely friendly attentive and helpful also especially Callum who was our server Thank you Toby and all for a lovely meal experience”

“If you had no stars I would give you this. The worst experience I have ever had in any Toby or place we have eaten. The manager on the night WENDY oh dear oh dear so rude not willing to listen just did not care. Not only rude to me but rude to the group in front of me. You work in hospitality learn your job. Carver very rude and needs to learn how to carve my beef was one slice an inch thick. If I wanted steak I would have ordered it. The veg well none of it was cooked I could not get the life through the cauliflower the potato gratin no sauce and raw. The famous Toby carvery gravy was more like dirty dish water so disappointing. I tried to talk to The MAnager W E N D Y but she did not want to know before I could even explain she was shouting I will give you a refund . All I wanted was for her to listen . Well if this is how you treat your customers Wendy you won’t last long. I asked in the end for a refund as honestly it was the worst experience I have ever had . She even mad a big fuss over that and could not process it . It took her nearly 10 mins to sort this in the end she opened the till and just gave me the refund in cash . I’m sorry Wendy you were having a bad night but YOU made it bad by your rude and aggressive attitude. You spoilt my evening Never again will I come to Cooper Dean”

“My server Jake was brill! Told me all about the food and how it was prepared. Very professional, and upbeat. The lady who greeted us, Carol, was so attentive and positive, and Karina who put through our order, was wonderfully warm, and answered any Q's that we had.”
