About The George Tapps

The George Tapps is a Bournemouth beer garden, the largest in the town, with more than 14 screens showing football on match days. Big screens also stand in the outdoor area, which has booths for watching the game. Inside, comfortable couches sit in a spacious room, and dart boards give regulars something to play between fixtures. London Pride is on draught, and the kitchen serves snacks as well as full meals, so a visit can be a quick drink or a sit-down meal. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary

Friendly staff are the most frequent draw, with several reviewers describing a welcoming, attentive team and one praising a bartender who stayed fast through a busy weekend. The food comes next, called good, very nice and great value, with decent portions, and one reviewer returned three days running. Football and boxing on the big screens bring in sports crowds, and reviewers mention London Pride on draught, dart boards, student discounts and free drinks through the Mixr app. The complaints centre on booked match-day tables and service. One group booked to watch Arsenal but found the Bournemouth match put on instead, was told staff could do nothing, and left within minutes of kick-off. Another was told to leave mid-game because the bar was closing, even though it was nearly empty. Others describe slow service, food that arrived burnt or crispy, and a fish dish that looked freezer burnt. One reviewer had to keep fetching paper from the bar because the tables had no napkins.

“Love this place . Bournemouth is falling apart compared to what it used to be . This is a sport bar with lovely staff , an outside area that is big with booths and big screens. The food is good. If you download the Mixr app you can get the odd free drink also scan it for points . Overall a good place always make a point of visiting especially during football season as they have most games on . They also have Dart boards and snacks if you don't want a big meal . Prices are reasonable and food is decent . 8 out of 10 from me .”

“I haven’t been in here yet, nor ate. However I arranged a table and got a booking with arrangements and Charlotte W was professional, helpful and funny on the phone. Customer service if it was an option is 5 *****. Thank you Charlotte for making my family event happen! ( I live away so it was important for me)”

“The atmosphere is very good, the music is nice, and the food was good. However, the service was quite slow. We booked a table to watch the game, but during the game we were told that we would have to leave because the bar was closing. This was disappointing, especially as the bar was almost empty at the time. The bathroom cleanliness was average and could be improved. I would also suggest providing napkins and straws on the tables. There were none available, and every time we needed one we had to go to the bar to get a piece of paper, which was not even a proper napkin. Overall, the place has a great atmosphere and good food, but the service and customer experience could be improved.”
