About Zhu Guang Cantonese
At 138 West St in Boston, Zhu Guang Cantonese is a Chinese restaurant built around an all-you-can-eat buffet. A display of fish gives children something to look at during the meal. The buffet includes chicken curry and beef in black bean sauce, and vegetarian options sit alongside the meat dishes. For dessert, the spread includes caramelized apples. Walk-in tables are available without a reservation, and groups can also book ahead. Drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are charged separately from the buffet.

Customer Review Summary
The all you can eat buffet is what most reviewers come for, and opinions split sharply on its range. Supporters describe a wide spread of noodles, rice, chicken curry, beef in black bean sauce, prawns and ribs, plus vegetarian options and desserts such as swiss roll, jelly and caramelized apples. Several call it good value with friendly service. Close behind, a few praise the cheap drinks and the way the owner and staff handled big groups, including a birthday party of 48 guests. The complaints are just as specific. Several say the choice is limited and dishes sit empty, with refills slow to arrive, food that is not warm, and noodles that tasted burnt. One reviewer asked for more plates because none were out, and another called the buffet a rip off because drinks were not included. A takeaway diner found the chicken cashew nut dish tasteless and the chicken balls came without sweet and sour sauce. Even a happy table of seven saw some confusion over what a vegan could eat, and was brought plain rice and lettuce leaves with salsa.

“We went for a meal here with no reservation and got in straight away which was good. Server directed us to a table however other than that there was no other interaction with the server minus ordering our drinks. So the service was medium, nothing awful. Food was good, they have a great range of dishes including vegetarian options. Desserts were delicious! We did have to ask for more plates though as there were none out. Decor was nice and prices were reasonable.”

“Firstly I will start by saying that this, they need to learn how to clean the resturant. I came with my family and found mould on the walls and dust everywhere. I am very sensitive to dust so it bothered me a lot while I was here. Once a while they need to shut their doors and give the place a deep clean. Secondly I have been to a lot of buffets in Norwich, Cambridge, Northamptonshire, Lincoln, Peterborough, and Luton (hong kong buffet) The managers need to visit these buffet and learn something from these places. You cannot charge so much money and there is not enough choice of food, your left around waiting for food to be brought out and rice being warmed in a rice cooker (which is seriously bad for your health if I might add) and food is not even warm. The noodles tasted burnt. In luton Hong Kong buffet drinks apart from alcohol are even included. You can't give such rubbish service and charge for drinks also. It's a rip off. I thought 2020 buffet in Peterborough was bad but this is the worse I've seen. I'll only come back so my son can look at the fishes. But wouldn't dare eat from here again. Thank God I can drive so I can go to better quality Resturants. EVEN THE STAFF AGREED WITH ME THAT THERE IS HARDLY ANY CHOICES OF FOOD!!”

“The food tastes nice and the staff are really nice too but there is very limited choices of food to choose from. It's a total rip off because you shouldn't have to be paying as much as £18.50 per person for hardly anything to choose from and drinks aren't even included in that price. It's too overpriced and not a fair price. They should reduce the price to £10 per person because the variety of food is very small. I was disappointed and shocked by how scarce the food was. Don't expect much from here or you will be disappointed.”

“I just had my 60th birthday celebration in this restaurant with my 48 guest and what can we say it’s fantastic especially the food and how the owner so kind enough to accommodate all my guest from drinks, food, arrangement and all my request was all granted. Thank you so much. I highly recommend this restaurant. Hopefully there will be next time.”
