Quick info
About The Magna Tandoori
The Magna Tandoori is an Indian restaurant at 39 Bridge St in Berwick Upon Tweed, run by one family since 1982. The extensive menu pairs tandoori cooking with venison specials, and curries such as butter chicken are ordered with cheese naan. The dining room has a mural of the Taj Mahal, a galaxy ceiling and chandeliers with coloured glass. Two separate dining halls make up the space, and one of them can be closed at quieter times. When tables are full, guests queue in a waiting area. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise flavourful food in big portions, with one diner saying a single portion was enough for two and another calling the chops lovely. A takeaway order is described as ready when promised, and several call the staff friendly, polite and helpful, with one noting the children in their party were looked after. The restaurant is called clean and welcoming. The recurring caveat is speed and consistency. Two reviewers describe a long wait to be seated and for food on a busy night, and one says the second dining hall opened late and the food arrived only as they were about to leave. Two negative reviews fault the cooking itself: sweet, fruity butter chicken and tikka masala, and a chicken balti loaded with green beans, broccoli and courgette, served with tough chicken and a cold, dry naan in a paper bag. Diners also single out the decor, from the Taj Mahal mural and galaxy ceiling to the chandeliers with coloured glass.

“Couldn't have asked for a better birthday dinner. As soon as you step foot into Magna Tandoori, the decor reveals the love behind the food. The mural of the Taj Mahal transported us to India and the galaxy ceiling was absolutely a sign of the out of this world flavor to come. One portion was enough for two, know before you go theportions are huge. The quality of the service is even bigger and better. Our waiter was absolutely lovely and helped us capture what is sure to become our fondest memory of Berwick!”
