About The Golden Elephant
The Golden Elephant is a Thai restaurant in Belfast, on Saintfield Rd at number 190, with a lunch set that runs to three courses: soup, a main and ice cream. That gives a midday visit a full structure of starter, main and dessert in one order. The rest of the menu includes Thai green curry and pad Thai for individual plates. The steamed whole fish comes in a light soup and works as a dish for sharing across the table.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the authentic Thai flavours, with the pineapple rice and the Thai green curry named as standouts, and the steamed whole fish singled out for its light, refreshing soup. Diners also mention the prawn toast, spring rolls, pad Thai and satay beef rice from the lunch sets, and describe the prices as reasonable. Staff come up repeatedly as friendly and helpful even when the room is busy, and one family describes a birthday surprise of ice cream with a candle and a song. One reviewer suggests sharing the dishes so everyone can try a bit of everything. Criticism is limited but specific. One diner found the lunch starter not tasty and the mains seemingly pre-cooked, with small portions. Another could barely taste the pineapple in the pineapple rice and found some flavours a little exotic, and a curry bowl arrived with chips at the rim. Several note the restaurant is busy even on weekdays, and one reviewer says the food arrived fast in big portions.

“We ate on Sunday at the Golden Elephant. We were welcomed on arrival and the staff were really helpful and welcoming. Our food was beautiful, well presented and very tasty. We even had some extra food for the table to try. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. If I could give this restaurant a 6 star I would. We will definitely be back. The staff were so nice.”

“Visited Golden Elephant Thai Restaurant in Belfast and had a wonderful experience. The ambience was lovely, and the staff were incredibly kind with amazing service. We mentioned that it was our child’s birthday, and they surprised us with an ice cream topped with a candle, sang Happy Birthday, and the elderly staff even blessed him. Such a sweet and touching gesture that truly made our day. The food was delicious, especially the Thai green curry, which was absolutely outstanding. A place that serves not just great food but genuine warmth and care. Highly recommended!”
