About Beijing Diner Chinese Takeaway
Beijing Diner Chinese Takeaway is a Chinese takeaway at 21 Market Rd in Battle, reached down a set of steps off the road, so customers should look for the entrance below street level. Inside, a fish tank sits in the premises. The menu includes sweet and sour chicken, spring rolls and special fried rice, and boiled rice is ordered as a separate item alongside the main dishes. Friday evening is a busy time, when food can take longer to arrive. The takeaway is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the sweet and sour dishes, with the sweet sour Hong Kong chicken described as crispy and the sweet and sour chicken with boiled rice called lovely, though one reviewer found the sweet n sour sauce thick and bitter. Several say the food arrived hot and fresh, and generous portions come up in praise, while another reviewer calls the portions tiny for the price. Waiting is the most repeated complaint. One reviewer was quoted half an hour and waited over an hour on a Friday evening, and another describes about an hour after a run of big orders, when the server apologised and offered a complimentary drink. Other reviewers report cremated spring rolls, a chicken ball found among battered prawns, soup that looked like old sweetcorn, and a duck in spicy sauce that tasted much like the mixed veg. Rice is not included in the price, according to one reviewer. Several holiday visitors were pleased, and one went back a second time, while the closing complaint from a local is that it is the only Chinese in Battle.

“Tiny portion size for the price it is set at. You can just feel a rubbish atmosphere when inside. And the food is lazy and poorly done. Especially considering its the only chinese in battle.”

“Order a meal for myself and my wife on Friday night. Not going to go in to to much. All I can say is will not be going back. Poor service, but above all shocking food. Burnt grease, uncomfortable with ingredients very very poor. Please take in to account in this day of costs it was nearly £50. Will not go back.”

“Wasn't busy got served straight away by a friendly young man. Food was really nice had sweet and sour chicken and boiled rice my partner had special fried rice and chips and it was all lovely. We're on holiday and was so nice we went twice. I do agree about a previous comment about the fish tho, several fish in a totally empty tank seems a bit sad but then if their memory is only seconds do they know?”

“Food was very good, but it was a wait of about an hour. In fairness it did seem they'd had a run of big orders from what people were collecting. The lady serving was very apologetic and did offer complementary drink to myself another customer who'd been waiting for some time.”

“Having read some of the reviews I was a little hesitant, but it was the closet by a long way so decided to give it a go. It did take longer than expected to get the food, but it was less than an hour for 5 meals which gave me time to get other food that we needed to suit everyone and do a small shop so I didn't mind. The food was good when I arrived and still really hot when I got back to where I was staying 15 minutes later, overall I was really pleased despite the wait”
