About Sanremo The Italian Restaurant

Sanremo The Italian Restaurant serves modern Italian cooking at 15 High St in Bath, in a former NatWest building opposite the Guildhall. The restaurant takes its inspiration from the Sanremo floral market and music festival, which gives the name a source. The menu mixes Italian and Mediterranean dishes, with calamari among the starters and seafood risotto among the mains. Tiramisu is on the dessert list, and a set menu is also available. The dining room has a skylight and a bar. Large groups can book, and the restaurant takes bookings for wedding meals.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often celebrate here, and attentive waiters are the thread through the anniversary, birthday and wedding meals. Reviewers describe drinks arriving before they asked, a front desk that took a late arrival in stride, and a bartender who adjusted a drink that was not to a guest's taste. Fresh calamari is praised by two reviewers, alongside burrata with squash and figs, crab and seafood ravioli, seafood risotto, and a tiramisu one reviewer says is to die for. Set menu portions are called generous, and the decor and building draw repeated praise as beautiful. The recurring complaint is the kitchen. One couple found their pasta overcooked and almost soggy, and say the waiter put it down to the pasta being fresh. Another reviewer found the vegetarian starters small and the vegetarian main not to their taste. One couple were greeted with complimentary Prosecco and finished with complimentary cannoli, and another diner's husband received a birthday dessert plate with a candle while the room sang along.

“Had a lovely dinner! We didn’t book a reservation but we were seated after waiting for a few minutes. Service was superb! The calamari tasted really fresh ✨ The only reason why I didn’t give 5 ⭐️ is because of the pasta. We told the waiter that it was overcooked, he said that it’s because of it being fresh, but we’ve eaten fresh pasta plenty of times 😅 Our dish was almost close to soggy pasta. Other than that, everything was delicious!”

“Sanremo was a beautiful setting in a stunning central location of Bath. We were enticed in by cocktails and beer at first and had a reservation for another restaurant later on in the day but we ended up cancelling the later reservation and staying at Sanremo for pre-dinner drinks, dinner, dessert and finished with an espresso. What a brilliant find. We were seated in an intimate part of the room with our backs to other diners where we could admire the bar and the skylight in its full glory without being too nestled in with the other diners. We were welcomed by all staff with pleasant hospitality and wide smiles. The waiters were brilliant listeners and had warm appropriate small talk with us. The food and drinks came up in a timely manner, we had great suggestions on portion sizes too so the food we ordered was perfect, with no leftovers and feeling perfectly satisfied. The food was amazingly balanced in flavour and a lot of the ingredients were handmade/crafted in house which gave a rustic yet refined appeal. The food offered balance also through texture and warmth in spice and seasoning. The washroom facilities were functional and clean. The overall dining experience felt elegant yet inclusive for any guest, either walking in from a day roaming to us, a couple, wanting an elevated date night experience. We want to thank the team on this lovely evening as we did feel very well catered for and all the small gestures and the high quality food made the day feel ever more so special. Many thanks to Naveen who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and his social etiquette was wonderfully polite. We want to come back for our anniversary, hoping that this will be our new annual anniversary place. Thank you Sanremo!”

“Brilliant experience. Went for an anniversary meal with my wife. We were greeted with complimentary Prosecco, and finished the meal with complimentary cannoli. All the staff are very attentive without being overbearing, only need to catch their eye and they’re with you asap. The maître d'hôtel was constantly surveying the dining room and our waitress Daria was lovely.”

“I booked a table to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We were welcomed and able to choose where we sat in the restaurant, which I really appreciated - it’s much nicer to be sitting somewhere you’re comfortable with. Service was efficient but we never felt rushed. The waiters were very polite and professional, and made us feel at ease. Special mention to Armand! The food was lovely - cannot fault a thing. What made the night extra special was when the waiters came out with a suprise happy birthday plate for my husband with a little dessert and a candle, singing happy birthday to him. The other diners joined in singing and clapping - it was such a nice thing to do for him - thank you so much! It was a really nice dining experience and if we come to Bath again, we would definitely return to the restaurant. Thanks again x”

“My sister booked her wedding dinner here and it was a lovely experience! The staff couldnt have been more helpful and friendly. Armand was extremely helpful sorting out everyone's dishes and drinks as we were quite a big booking. And Keila behind the bar was attentive and friendly. When she noticed my partner wasn't enjoying her drink, she came over and adjusted it for her so it was more to her taste. The food was good, but the vegetarian dishes/starters could have been a bit bigger, but overall it was nice and the meat dishes looked well portioned and cooked. The vegetarian main wasn't to my taste but other people enjoyed! Overall would absolutely recommend a visit or a large booking if you are looking for somewhere to hold a function.”
