About Giovanni's
Giovanni's is an Italian restaurant in Barnstaple, found at number 35 Boutport St. The dining space is rustic, with gingham tablecloths on each of the tables, and the menu is built around pizza and pasta. Mediterranean classics sit alongside the Italian cooking for diners who want something beyond those two dishes. Italian wine is available to pair with the food, so the drinks list follows the same Italian focus as the menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food and friendly service, with the tiramisu singled out as the standout among bruschetta, bucatini romana and tagliatelle gamberetti. Pizzas, pepperoni and mushroom, were called fantastic, with leftovers boxed up. The caveats are specific: the Atlantic prawns in the tagliatelle looked like shrimps, the calamari was a little chewy, and the aperol spritzes had tiny measures.

“I was recommended to visit the restaurant buy a lovely pub in town The Golden Lion. The food, service and price was amazing. The atmosphere was good especially as it filled up with customers. I highly recommend..”

“Best food I have ever had! Honest opinion from my 9 year old. Great and friendly service despite a very busy evening they accommodated us all. Great quality food,”

“We had a very good meal tonight - bruschetta, bucatini romana, tagliatelle gamberetti, tiramisu and sbriciolato. These were all good (especially the tiramisu) although the 'Atlantic prawns' in the tagliatelle were far smaller than we expected - more like shrimps. We had 2 aperol spritzes to drink. Lovely glasses with the name of the cocktail on the side but tiny measures - less than half full including the ice - aperol quite strong - not sure whether it was the prosecco or the soda which was missing - just top it up with soda to make it look fuller! Not good for over £10 a glass.”

“Me and the wife popped in for dinner. We arrived early but they accommodated us with ease. We had a garlic flat bread, calamari and a portion of prawns, all looked amazing but I must say whilst the calamari was flavoursome it was a little chewy for me. For mains we had a couple of pizza, one peperoni the other mushroom they were fantastic 😋 we even left some as the portion was big. But they popped it into a box for us to take home. Very friendly staff it must be high lighted. All in all with a couple of drinks it came to 63 quid. Very nice!”
