Customer Review Summary
Salt and pepper dishes, chicken and prawns, come up most often, with one diner calling the chicken delish. Close behind are the Hong Kong duck, a hot samba chicken described as divine, a light and fragrant Thai green curry, and pineapple fritters one reviewer loved. Several describe food arriving quickly and full of flavour, and one compares it to a restaurant in Shanghai. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and efficient even when busy, and reviewers say the kitchen accommodated a vegan and made dishes really spicy on request. The room is described as inviting, well-kept and intimate despite plenty of space. Criticism is thinner but specific. One diner found the food ok with portions on the small side, and a restaurant hot enough to need fans or air conditioning. Another reviewer reports being secluded because they were black and asks the council to look into the restaurant. Several reviews centre on birthday meals, and at one table the waiting staff brought a complimentary ice cream with a candle without being asked.

“This restaurant was recommended to us, and the reviews were very good. We found the food to be ok but pricey and portions on the small side. We didn't have anything fancy but saw other tables having what looked like very fancy and interesting food! It was hot inside the restaurant and it could do with some fans or air conditioning. They sell bottled Tribute ale, which we enjoyed.”

“Stopped off in Barnstaple with my wife and daughter, and we were recommended this place as a must try. We popped in to get a takeaway and I have to say we'll be coming back again. The service was lovely and welcoming. There was no rush for us to place our order, we could take our time. We had a drink whilst we waited (which wasn't that long) and the bar staff were lovely. Realising we had no cutlery in our hotel, they kindly got us some without a blink of an eye. My salt and pepper chicken was delish, and the Thai green curry, was light and fragrant. Next time we visit or pass through Barnstaple, this will be the first place we stop at.”

“They are so classist as I was secluded because I was black, noticed it all through my time at the restaurant. If you feel blacks can’t afford your meals or your menu then you shouldn’t open up your restaurant. Definately not coming here and will love the council to look deep into this restaurant for racism.”

“really lovely evening celebrating a birthday. friendly, attentive staff; gorgeous food; good layout of tables; reasonably priced. easily accommodated a vegan, and confirmed vegan dishes on the phone. one of the waiting staff noticed a family member opening his birthday cards, and they brought a complimentary ice cream (complete with candle) without even being told - a really lovely touch!”
