  “We visited this afternoon and safe to say we wont be going back anytime soon. The lady serving it felt like she didn't want the custom and it was an inconvenience ,the food was not good.We ordered fish,chips and a scallop fish cake, the fish was very skinny and the fish cake went in the bin as it was very hard and possibly reheated,it was as hard as a rock.If we hadn't taken them home and eaten them locally we would have gone back to complain. We would have prefered it if she had said "were closed"”

  “Great chippy, order at the takeaway and they serve you in the restaurant next door for an extra £1 , the spicy curry sauce is amazing, staff very nice and welcoming.”

  “Call every time we come to Barnsley allways piping hot and delicious, not over priced friendly and helpful staff worth a visit. Ya won't find better fish and chips!”

  “We got the small fish & chips with a side for 50p extra was plentiful enough the fish was lovely and the batter was not too thick, cooked, perfect and chips were lovely too... highly recommend and the staff were real nice and helpful x”

  “Dropped in just before closing time, we was unsure if we were able to place our order. The staff could not do enough for us and were extremely welcoming. After taking our order, we were taken to our table and within no time the fish, chips, mushy peas arrived where we were also offered a hot drink. The FOOD, STAFF, CLEANLINESS and COST was EXCELLENT. We had not visited for many years due to recently moving back into the area, we were amazed that nothing had changed and was still the best 💯……FULLY Recommend a visit to the BEST Fish & Chips in TOWN.   “Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Mermaid fish and chips. The staff were all polite, friendly and courteous, especially the lady who was working in the seating area for whom nothing was too much trouble. The fish and chips were delicious and the portions generous. We will return. Thankyou.”

  “Fantastic little chippy..good service, great portions and for under £10 get fish&chips, tea/coffee, bread and a side (curry/beans etc). Nice and relaxed no rush when sat down.”
