Quick info
About The Barley Mow
The Barley Mow is a bar and grill on Warwick Rd in Banbury, built around a sizzling skillets menu that includes a mixed grill and a chicken katsu curry sizzler. Rainbow Lasagne gives vegetarians a dish of their own. Inside, a pool table, a dartboard, televisions and a fruit machine sit alongside the dining area, so there is something to do before or after the meal. The team serves food at the table, and the kitchen sends plates out quickly. Dogs are welcome, and staff give them attention too.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come back to value, with big portions and food that exceeds what was paid. The mixed grill from the sizzling menu is said to have fed one diner for the whole day, and the chicken katsu curry is called delicious with loads of chicken. Close behind, the Sunday roast earns praise as the best in years for one family, and a vegetarian diner liked the Rainbow Lasagne. Staff come up repeatedly as welcoming and quick, including one manager who took care over an allergy in the group. The garden, pool table and dartboard add to the relaxed feel, and one visitor notes the dogs got plenty of attention. The main reservation is that the food did not stand out for everyone. One lunch visitor found the vegan Wellington, roast and cauliflower cheese okay but nothing special, and the chicken tikka was also just okay. A solo diner after a quiet spot to read found it too family oriented, and the pub gets busy at weekends. One reviewer came in for a pint and stayed to eat because of the smell from the kitchen.

“Visited Barley Mow last Sunday for lunch. Nice atmosphere and I particularly liked the garden seating – perfect for a sunny day. We had the vegan Wellington, Sunday roast, cauliflower cheese and a couple of cocktails. The food was okay, but nothing particularly special. It’s a lovely place if you’re looking for a relaxed Sunday afternoon to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. For me, though, the atmosphere was definitely the highlight rather than the food.”

“Really good value at The Barley Mow Banbury. Sizzling Pubs menu means lots of choice and big portions for the price. Staff were great, friendly and got the food out fast. I had the mixed grill and it fed me for the whole day. Nice inside with pool table and fruit machine. Gets busy at weekends but worth it. Solid pub for food and drinks in Banbury.”
