About Blake's Kitchen
Blake's Kitchen is a family-run cafe and bakery at The Post Office in Bampton, and it also serves as Clanfield Post Office. The team bakes its bread, cakes, tray bakes, scotch eggs and sausage rolls on site. The award-winning cinnamon buns and sourdough loaves are sold in the shop alongside produce from local suppliers. The breakfast and brunch menu includes a full English, and sourdough goes into the sandwiches. Customers order inside, and the food is brought to the table. Dogs are welcome outside.

Customer Review Summary
Cinnamon buns are the most frequent draw, described as delicious and sizeable, and reviewers eat them with yogurt or alongside the cakes. Close behind is the house sourdough, which one regular never leaves without, though that reviewer suggests having the loaf sliced because it was hard to cut at home. Sandwiches are also named often: pulled pork, avocado with halloumi and fried egg, an avocado sourdough sandwich, and a bacon sandwich served with great coleslaw and chips. Breakfasts such as salmon with scrambled eggs, a full English and chorizo hash are called tasty and generous, and the staff are described as friendly and thoughtful. The main complaint comes from one reviewer whose frittata arrived cold and was reheated twice. The same reviewer found the harissa chicken dry and overcooked, saw the two dishes come out at different times, and got no apology. A separate reviewer had a minor gripe about the coffee and the noise. One takeaway bacon sandwich for a heavily pregnant customer, handed over as if nothing was too much trouble, stands out among the stories.

“Passing through and stumbled upon Blake’s kitchen on our way back home from our Cotswolds holiday. What a lovely little place! A great selection of cakes and amazing cinnamon buns. Very friendly service and made to feel like nothing was too much trouble. You made a heavily pregnant woman very happy with a takeaway bacon sandwich so thank you!!”

“I Discovered this place recently and thought I’d try it out and it’s great, it’s genuinely worth trying out whether you want an actual breakfast or some cakes, it’s a third generation family owned business with three branches. I recommend trying their cinnamon rolls as they are both delicious and also pretty sizeable. The prices are what you would expect from an independent bakery but I think it’s worth the price. If you go early you get the full freshness of the items baked on site and also before the place fills up inside but if it fills up inside there is loads of outdoor seating covered with large tipis and sails. The parking is pretty good whether you have to use their own parking, street parking, a pub car park ( about 100 feet away ) or other business parking directly across the road. If you’re in the area I recommend that you try this place out.”

“A few weeks ago I was taken there buy a regular customer with high praises of the place. Unfortunately these fell short. We ordered 2 meals the fritata with salad and harrisa chicken with salad with 2 cans of apple juice, for some reason I got a jucie box and im nearly 40 haha. The fritata came out before the chicken which both dishes should come out together, luckily we are sharing but even then the chicken dish took a further 15mins to get out. On the menu the fritata is served warm, it was dead cold. I asked to heat it as per menu, it then came out warm on the outside and cold on the inside, also had been heated up in a microwave as you can see the egg is leaking water onto the plate, this is a serious health risk as its egg, you can make people sick like this, then asked to heat again which was done in a microwave again, water leaking on to plate. The chicken was dry over cooked. Im a chef by trade so I know what I would serve and that was below par, as per my friend said she thinks the owners are concentrating on the new place and not keeping this place in check which is a shame. I would be very hesitant to go back. I even explained all of this to a staff member with a blank face, no sorry, no manager came out to apologise. Just not good enough really.”

“Blake's has a tremendous vibe that makes it more than somewhere to eat. People were there for obviously different reasons. Small family groups, people chatting about work, cyclists dropping in for refreshments and a smattering of service uniforms from the RAF base. Fresh bread is on sale but their food is fresh and interesting. A simple bacon sandwich with delicious bacon came with a great coleslaw and scappings of potato to make fantastic chips. The coffee was also fresh, well made and a delicious roast. Whatever your reason for going please just go as I'm sure you will not be disappointed. Also air-conditioned inside.”

“Great cakes and bread. Really inventive Brunch menu. An unexpected find. Silver medal position in my West Oxon coffee Olympics. I can only kvetch about the coffee and the noise, which I do in detail for your delectation at PickyManinaVan.”
