About Wendover Woods Cafe

Wendover Woods Cafe is a woodland cafe in Aylesbury on Foresty Commission, set in the Chiltern Hills woods with walking and running routes nearby, so it works as a stop-off for walkers. Large glass windows look out over the trees. Dogs are welcome, and the cafe serves pup cups and doggie ice cream for them, so a dog gets its own treat alongside the owner's order. The food side runs from a breakfast bap to hot plates such as ham, egg and chips, with cold options for those who want something lighter. Coffee comes from a machine, and hot chocolate is the alternative.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the hot food, with a breakfast bap, a sausage bap, ham, egg and chips, and a pasty named as dishes they enjoyed, along with generous portions and a wide choice of hot and cold drinks. Close behind is the setting, with glass windows and a deck looking over the trees and woods that suit walks and runs. Several mention friendly staff, one reviewer noting an apology for a wait. Machine coffee disappoints one reviewer, who suggests hot chocolate instead. The main complaints are about value and pace: a few call it pricey, and one says a burger and chips arrived lukewarm after a long wait while an iced coffee came in a single-use plastic cup despite dining in. Others describe the dining room as chaotic or busy, find the chalkboard signs passive aggressive, or could not use the free WiFi without Facebook. One reviewer describes a manager yelling at young staff in front of customers. Dog owners mention pup cups and doggie ice cream.

“Disgraceful behaviour from the manager. Yelling at his young staff in front of customers is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. The man can clearly not cope with the responsibility of the position he is in.”

“My cousins came for the 10k run. They said it was very hilly and nearly died haha drama queens. But yeah if your not into hilly walks or runs probably not the best place for you. But it is a lovely place with lovely cafe”

“We had a great time at the Wendover Woods Cafe over the May bank holiday weekend. All the staff we came into contact with were very polite and helpful. The food itself was very nice, tasty and well cooked. I had the ham, egg and chips which was really nice. My mum had the pasty which she really liked as well. There was a wide range of options to choose from, both hot and cold. Nice range of hot and cold drinks as well. Another nice touch was the availability of pup cups and doggie ice cream for our four legged companions. I would highly recommend Wendover Woods Cafe to all.”
  • Mr Smith
“Friendly staff but atmosphere killed by the multiple passive aggressive signs which make the cafe feel more like a boot camp. Also, to access the free WiFi you need to do something with Facebook, well I'm not a boomer so I don't use facebook, so the WiFi isn't accessible for me. I suggest the F&B manager needs some therapy or anger management sessions judging by the anger displayed in the chalk board cafe signage.”

“Great atmosphere for a coffee, lunch or catch up with friends. The views here all year round are unbeatable with the woods offering so many routes for walks, runs and scenic moments.”
