About Kokoro Ashford
Kokoro Ashford is a sushi restaurant in Ashford, at 83 High St, serving sushi and halal chicken katsu from a truck with a raised service hatch. The hatch is where the food is handed out, so the setup works for a quick order at the counter. Noodles join the sushi and chicken katsu on the menu. Customers place orders at a digital board or with the counter staff, and payment is by tap. Canned drinks are sold as well.

Customer Review Summary
Chicken katsu is the draw for the positive reviewers, who call it the best katsu, cooked fresh and always busy, with one noting it is halal and the sushi was really nice. Negative reviews are just as pointed: cold noodles at the truck counter, a delivered order that arrived stone cold, and staff who tutted and shouted that a customer who had tapped to pay had not.

“Wouldn't even give this one star This has to be the worse food I have ever tasted Was all stone cold as if it hasn't even been cooked at all I had it delivered and had to chuck it all in the bin”

“It’s a nice Japanese canteen, chicken katsu is halal similar to the wasabi chains, food was good and sushi was really nice. Decent little spot”

“Came to Ashford and heard a lot about Kokoro by my friends little did they tell me that the cheapest item there will cost an arm and a leg. Moving on today 22/06/26 I was served by the rudest male and female workers who kept making rude and quite disgusted faces towards me and then to top it all of the food was served to me with multiple hair strands and items colder than an igloo which then that same night caused me to have food poisoning. Please save your time and money and don’t shop here, this without a doubt is the worst chain I’ve ate at let alone the worst customer service I’ve faced, honestly a disgrace to Ashford and I hope they business quite frankly shuts down soon saving all of our tastebuds and out stomachs.”

“Came here today (30.05.2026 at 12pm) and was served by the rudest male employee !! Not only did he screw his face and shout at us not to use the digital board to order. He then proceeded to be so rude when taking our order (screwing his face when we was still deciding). I asked if the drink were cold and he said yes. His college which was quite nice said sorry did you pay I said yes I tapped and it’s come out of my bank as I got the notification. But the MALE came and said no you didn’t pay then shouted SHE DIDNT PAY when I clearly showed them the money has come out my account!! He then proceeded to he gave me a warm one, the lady after me got a freezing cold one because I could literally see the can was glazed over with cold so he obviously did that intentionally. He handed me the food and he intentionally held it up very high so I struggled to reach it (as they’re in a truck which is higher up). The noodles were freezing cold. After all this I still politely thanked him for the food and he just tutted and carried on doing what he was doing. Will not be returning as this is such appalling behaviour. He clearly didn’t want to be there and took it out on the customers !! Very disappointing.”
