  “The place and the owners are very nice, but the food is not so much. The sandwich was just lazy: stale bread, lumped up cheddar, and a smear of chutney. And we found a piece of blue plastic in the pie (which was yummy otherwise).”

  “The Rattle Ghyll Deli in Ambleside is very close to my heart and ethos being 100% meat free with, as I understand, as much as possible a zero waste kitchen . Absolutely fabulous takeaway menu and a superb range of produce in the shop, local baked bread, loose leaf teas ….. really too much to describe. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I always get friends and family to visit the Deli when on their travels to the area in Cumbria. I had an incredible box of delights following my hospital stay. The grandchildren loved the products too. Highly recommend.”

  “Rattle Ghyll is my go-to shop in Ambleside for: * great bread and locally roasted coffee (you can get it ground to your specs) * cheese (it's where I first discovered Baron Bigod... omg) * special gourmet food gifts (e.g. Monty Bojangles, sugar-free dried mango, peppermint almonds, stuffed dates, pastas made from local wheat, all manner of different sauces and condiments and crackers, biscuits) * un-packaged beans, pulses, kitchen cleaning stuff * otherwise hard-to-find-locally vegan things like excellent vegan butter and oat m*lk chocolate I also love the values underpinning their business. It's 100% vegan and vegetarian with careful attention to sourcing from local and ethical producers, runs on renewable energy, re-uses packaging, composts; they're deeply involved with the local community and support local education and anti-racist organisations. The loveliest staff too!”
