About Hale Country Club & Spa
Hale Country Club & Spa is a spa on Clay Ln in Altrincham, open daily. Its infinity pool has hydrotherapy jets and overlooks greenery, so swimmers look out over the grounds. Alongside it, the spa has salt and standard saunas, a steam room and further swimming pools. Spa day packages combine lunch or dinner with an ESPA treatment, either a massage or a facial. The gym keeps one of each machine, with a smith machine and several squat racks, and it is geared toward Hyrox and lifestyle training. Padel is also on offer. The café serves pastries and flapjacks and has co-working spaces.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the spa itself, praising the infinity pool, salt and standard saunas, steam room and ice fountain, plus massages and a facial one calls exceptional. Staff are described as lovely and friendly, and diners mention the tempura prawn sushi and the cafe's pastries and flapjacks, though one found the lamb chops very dry. Complaints centre on value and the gym. Members cite a price rise after signing and very expensive protein shakes, and the gym has one of each machine and a single smith machine, geared toward Hyrox rather than bodybuilding. The spa is called overcrowded in summer, and one reviewer reports a smell of urine around the pool. Service lapses recur: a receptionist called rude, the spa closed on one member's first weekend because the owner was there, and a restaurant closed despite assurances at booking. One guest describes a nail appointment running over four hours, leaving cuts to six fingers and toes and ending in a half refund.

“Awful experience with spa Booked a manicure and pedicure for myself and my mum, two days before my wedding. This cost £250 in total. What was supposed to be a relaxing pampering experience, turned in to a stressful ordeal, with service taking over 4 hours. The nail varnish products were poor quality and difficult to apply, and the technicians seemed inexperienced and unqualified. Complained about varnish quality and cuts to nails. Staff remover varnish from finger nails repainted with gel varnish instead, but I was left with a poorly applied pedicure and cuts to 6 of my fingers/toes. As we gad spent hours at the spa at this stage and had to prepare for wedding, decided to leave. When I complained after events, spa manager reported that they felt the issue had been addressed on the day. Only willing to refund 1/2 of treatments, and stopped responding to emails when asked to escalate issue. Spa staff clearly do not care about reputation or quality of service provided. Would advise against booking any nail services here. Personally won’t visit again following experience. Customer service provided also disappointing, I can see someplace accounts from other reviews.”

“I really love being a member here. It’s great for people aged 30-40s. I’m in my 30s and I find it to be a really pleasant upmarket place to workout, work from and relax. It’s worth the money. The only thing is the protein shakes are very expensive and I wish they provided towels for the spa- that would make it a real 5/5.”

“We had a superb day out at Hale Country Club thanks to our eldest lad. We were on a 'Spa experience' that included lunch, a 'treatment' (massage, facial or a combination of both). I had a massage for the first time and it won't be the last. My missus had a 'facial'. We spent the time between the infinity pool and it's hydrotherapy jets, the saunas (salt and standard), steam room and swimming pools. I particularly liked the ice fountain: I'd not encountered one before. We were very lucky with the weather and spent the last hour on sunbeds by the pool, but it wouldn't have detracted much from the day if it had been a wet day in November. The staff treated us like royalty. They were extremely polite and attentive. Don't think about it: book it.”

“Nice spa day during the weekday. Relatively clean and staff were friendly. We were greeted with some wellness drinks and macaroons, which was nice. The massages were relatively expensive for what it is, didn’t feel like you get the full 30/1 hour massage. The infinity pool is small but since it wasn’t too busy it was nice to sit and chill, overlooking some greenery. We also ordered food, to my surprise the sushi were actually quite nice, especially the tempura prawn one, very different from the usual I have. I would not recommend the lamb chops, very dry and the sauce was just too much.”

“I became a member. First weekend turned up, spa closed because “the owner is here”. Sorry what?! If you want a gym with a pool, join Total Fitness. HCC has confused staff and is full of people instagramming.”
