About Grannies
Grannies is a tea house in Alnwick at 18 Narrowgate, with its tea room downstairs beneath a ground-floor shop that sells jams, teas, coffee and other edibles, along with a bakery. The tea menu includes a cream tea, served with scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam, and a smaller "small tea" for lighter appetites. Savoury plates run to sandwiches, including coronation chicken and salmon and cream cheese, plus paninis and soup. Jacket potatoes join the choices at lunch.

“Nice food and coffee here. Staff very nice. Only downside; chairs are very uncomfortable”

“Oh my word! We're staying in Alnwick and found this gem by accident. On the ground floor is an excellent shop, think deli with cakes, jams, all sorts of edibles. But downstairs is the tea room with a brilliant choice of sandwiches and cakes. We had the "small tea" for £15, a sandwich and a cream tea. We shared coronation chicken and salmon and cream cheese, both delicious.”

“Not particularly rude but not particularly friendly either and rather expensive for what we got.”

“Food was ok but definitely wouldn't describe it as dog friendly, more like barely dog tolerant. We were presented with a laminated list of rules about the dog and then reminded to re-read it when we made it order. Loose leaf tea was actually a big tea bag and seevice was quite perfunctory.”
- Larry Fahey
“It has a lovely downstairs tea house with delicious warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Add a cappuccino for a nice mid-morning nosh. The other offerings smelled wonderful and looked delicious.”
