  “I went to this hair salon because all my friends assured me it was a safe space for queer people. It even says so on their website. But it's only a safe space for queer white people. It's not okay to claim they can cut all hair types and then immediately refuse to cut someone with curly hair because they don't know how, won't do it, and don't have products for Afro hair. My hair isn't Afro; it's 3b to 3c curls. There are definitely white people with that type of curl. Does that mean all the hairdressers who were there today can't cut curly hair? In all their years as hairdressers, no one at this salon has ever cut curly hair? The person who spoke to me didn't even ask their colleagues if they'd be willing to cut my hair into a mullet. And then they told me I should go to an Afro hair shop instead. If it had been a white woman with 3b to 3c curls who also wanted a mullet with shaved sides, would she have been sent to an Afro hair salon? I don't think so; that was just everyday racism. Is that your idea of ​​a safe space? Maybe it's a very good hair salon, but not safe for people of color.”

  “I received a very warm and friendly welcome at the salon. Unfortunately, I'm not at all happy with my haircut. It's all the more painful considering I paid almost €80 for it and the result looks so bad. I hope future customers have a better experience.”

  “It was the same hairdresser, the same stylist. The second time I went, I even asked if I should show him the photo again, but he said no, he didn't need to. The first time was perfect, but the second time... well, yeah. Dissatisfied, I contacted him via Facebook Messenger with a photo, but nobody responded. Yes, it's a craft, but to cut your hair so badly... Save your money.”

  “I feel very comfortable at Haarpoeten. Denise is excellent at working with my special hair (curly, very voluminous) and is always happy to try new things with me. Unlike other hairdressers, here they don't tell you that you absolutely shouldn't cut your long hair; instead, they actually make your wishes come true. I also regularly get styling tips. The atmosphere in the salon is very pleasant, the music is good, and my hair has never looked better – what more could you ask for?”
